You know what... I'm not upset about the game. It is what it is. Here's hoping we makes in the playoff, which is unlikely.
The TV crew commented that Kirby sent a tape to the SEC office after the screwing they took from the refs at jerkin-hair - obviously it had no impact, our receivers and defenders were held on almost every play tonight.Something has to be done about that. I get missed calls but this is ridiculous.

They adjusted on that first drive of the 3rd qtr. But then we never saw anything like it again. Talk about going away from what works!I just can’t find much fault with any player’s effort. Oh sure there were plenty of brain farts to go around, but that’s not an effort issue.
This one is on the coaches, especially offensive coaches, for a poor plan to begin with and an inability to adjust. Indeed the worst issue being the fantastic TD drive to start the third quarter and not going back to those kinds of running plays for the rest of the game.
Tennessee has lost 8 games in one season for the first time ever. I bet Vol fans would trade with fans of an 11-1 team just now.As much as we want to win the championships every year, there are some years that you can't just reload. We have the best coach in the game but our early NFL enrollees and injuries caught up to us this year imo. We're still alive for the playoffs although it is a longshot but we are 11-1 and I'm proud of this team. I'm not trying to make excuses and we did not play Bama ball tonight but how many college programs would like to be us tonight? The sun will come up tomorrow, Roll Tide!
Your opinion won't be popular, but I'll agree Tua is a more skilled passer and sees the field better. But, JH's real strength isn't passing, but running the run option and scrambling. As a passer, he's best as a passer rolling out in the flats going to his right. But, you are correct that when asked to drop back in the pocket he's limited on finding receivers running deep routes and I think Tua is better. But that's only half of our offense.Worst coached Bama team tonight I’ve seen in a long time. All of the folks who have been so quick to dismiss the ones who have pushed for Tua to possibly get a chance to be the man may need to rethink their position. Do you think the team would have been better off if they would have went with the much better passer at the first of the year? I don’t think Hurts has released a pass at the top of his drop all year. And every time they show the wide view, at least one receiver is open enough to throw the ball. But he either can’t see it or he’s not confident enough to deliver the ball. And so you’re left with a very limited offense, one which is not good enough to keep up with a team playing like Auburn. All of this skill talent we have is being wasted because of the who the quarterback is. Put the one in who can see the field and spread the ball around!
I'm not calling for Jalen to be benched, but he made a handful of really bad decisions tonight, and a couple of really bad reads. He had a wide open Juedy on a pass to Ridley, and Gary correctly noted that he locks in on Ridley - to a fault.Someone remind me, were Alabama fans calling for AJ to lose his job when Alabama lost?
Alabama has a top ten quarterback, and empirical data says this, not my opinion. I'm not even sure some people here realize statistically he still had a solid game. His rating was 135, that's like 10 points below AJ's average his sophomore year. His QBR was 75, that's good enough that if he did that every game he'd still be a top 20 QB. That's not even counting the Ridley got mugged plays, which erased what could have been some big plays. All this against a great defense. You're basically football ignorant if you watch this game and your biggest takeaway is that Hurts is the problem.
Hurts could have played better, but so could many other players. He also could have been better utilized..
As much as Saban supposedly self scouts and critiques his staff. I'd be shocked if he doesn't come to the conclusion that playcalling (from beginning to end) was a big part of our problem. Absolutely mindnumbing at the plays are called during games relative to the situation.Hurts could have played better, but so could many other players. He also could have been better utilized..
First of all, You need to calm down. Just because Hurts had a bad game doesn't mean he should lose his job. It seems like you are placing 100 percent blame on Jalen, and that's totally unfair. The blame should be going to the team as a whole. Both side of the ball did not play well tonight. Coaches didn't coach well tonight as well. This is on the team as a whole.Team played pretty poorly. Daboll didn't calm the best game. Jalen had arguably his worst game.
Time for the unpopular opinion. At this point I'm fully on board with having a legitimate QB competition going into next season. I don't think you do it before the bowl/playoff but going into next season I think you do. Jalen can make some really nice throws from time to time but he is wayyy too inconsistent. We have had consistent 3rd down issues vs elite defensive fronts going back to last year and it came up again today. Sure, there were issues at the end of last year with Kiffin but it was our weakness from LSU on last year. Jalen can win a lot of games for us but I want to win National Titles. Our team is often good enough to cover his flaws because few teams are balanced enough on both sides of the ball to really push us. I think most agree 2016 was arguably the most talented team under Saban and while we could have beat Clemson with this or that going right the reason we needed to be perfect is because our offense is limited.
There is a reason Calvin Ridley is freaking out all the time. And there is a reason we still can't convert 3rd downs.
Feel free to roast me for this but its time(IMO) to give Tua a real shot at the QB job.(after the bowl game at least)
Agree. TEAM loss: virtually none of our players OR coaches did a good jobThe critical play of the bama had 3rd down in the 3rd quarter after we had gone ahead. Jalen throws to Bo in the flat. He doesn't cut inside and avoid the defender. We end up short and punt. If he cuts inside he scores, there was no one home on that side of the field. Ther were plenty of other plays, but that is the one that stuck out to me.
We simply didn't play like the best team tonight. Auburn finally beat us without a miracle or trick play.
