I'm sorry but i am just accustomed to us playing well in big games that matter. It's obvious the teams that didn't have to grind through the season will be playing for the championship. After tonight if we would have won I would not have felt confident about our chances given how beat up we are. At beginning of the season if you would have told me that we would have made it this far with Sims at QB I would been very satisfied. Now I am going to try and focus on that. Good season guys. RTR!
Yeah, I agree. Even if we had won, I would not have felt good about facing a seemingly unstoppable Oregon team. Personally, I think OSU will be the lambs at the slaughter. I guess we shall see!

In many ways we overachieved.

If if I told in August you that Bama would start Blake Sims, have even worse CB play, not fix the place kicking would you take 12-2 and an SECChampionship? I would.

My problem is that the SEC has lost any good will. The bowl season would indicate that the SEC is no longer head and shoulders above other conferences. You won't hear talk about getting two SEC teams into the playoffs anytime soon. You won't see 4-5 SEC teams preseason top 10.

Its funny that under the BCs Bama and FSU would have played for the title and Ohio State and Oregon would have been in the Rose Bowl.
And -we would have beaten FSU soundly....

With regards to the SEC -- I agree - we've lost the good will. Mostly because of Video Game Football Garbage....that Oregon, A&M, Auburn, and others are running now..... In their efforts to take away the defensive advantage most SEC teams had -- they've turned College Football into a "Hollywood" Arena League -- it's not football -- it's a completely different game.

I (for one) hope Coach can figure it out -- otherwise, it may frustrate him to the point to where he leaves it behind

I'm not gonna dive deeply into this, nor do I expect to get much support in this opinion, but...

Bama is paying $8+ million/year for the Saban / Smart combo, and with everything they have (which is literally any and everything they could ever ask for) on hand, I'm having a hard time seeing teams roll up HUGE offensive numbers against us, particularly when they aren't running much HUNH (a la this year's Iron Bowl or tonight's game) - in both cases the teams primarily lined up and outplayed us.

I think Saban is a great coach, but he'd better address these defensive issues ASAP - as I'm not the only Bama fan who watches these games, knows the recruiting history, knows all the tools at the coaches disposal - and wonders what's going on...

We gave up 1,167 yards to OSU and the barn.
Agree 100%, no excuse for this mess. Got outcoached thoroughly on both sides of the ball tonight.

Great season guys, I'm not going to say we overachieved this year because I expect to win every game, but, SEC champions, made the first 4 team playoff, achieved the number one ranking and all in all, one of the most entertaining teams I can remember. So, great season, hope everyone that was hurt this year recovers 100% and here is to next year. Agree wholeheartedly with all of this. I very much hope to see the 3rd and long issue addressed, as well as the long ball issues, this spring.

All things considered, this team overachieved this year IMO. I didn't really expect a ton this season. But next year is a different story.
I love CNS, but I'm perplexed we are so terrible at defending the long pass. Teams exploited this all year long.

Loss hurts! Proud of the team though! Had an off night and despite the fact SIMS ....... sucked, we had a chance! Not sure if he just choked or just played above his head all year, I can't wait to see what Lane does with a real QB! I for one am glad Sims is done!
Totally uncalled for and classless.

Actually - there wasn't one word you just typed that I don't 100% agree with

I think they've swung and missed a couple of recruiting classes in a row on CBs. Not that our guys are terrible, but they aren't NFL shutdown types. The really good D's of a few yrs ago had at least one guy that could take away half the field on the outside. This one didn't.

I said after the Ole Miss game that Bama was young and hurt but they still seemed to make it to the Playoffs. No excuses , the best team won tonight. State made all the big plays and Bama made some big mistakes. Good luck against the Ducks and we'll see you next year. RTR.

Saban and Smart are supposedly defensive gurus, so even if the 4* and 5* guys haven't lived up to their billing on paper why does this team seem to make almost every QB look unbelievably good?

Heck, we had a WR who had never thrown a collegiate pass before throw a TD strike on us tonight.

There are fundamental issues with the defense. I think the discussion as to whether or not the game has 'passed Saban by' (defensively) remains to be answered at this point.

I just wish I knew the reasoning behind abandoning the run when Henry was almost unstoppable.
I think they had to give him a breather sometime. Yeldon's injury really prevented us from resting the runners and we didn't trust the young guys to block. Henry definitely couldn't block as well as Yeldon.

Speaking of which what ever happened to Brown and Humphery?

Based on us having earlier success (3 NC's in 5 years), I'm willing to give Saban and Smart the benefit of the doubt even for another season and call this an anomaly.
