1. 9 seniors. Several of which didn't exactly perform well tonight. I can't wait until we get 25 who've actually been completely Sabanized.

2. Our DBs didn't adjust well to the fast-pace. I hope we see a lot of improvement out of them, and hopefully the freshmen/RS freshmen improve.

3. Davis is not the answer at LT, neither is Johnson. Carpenter, the JUCO signee, or DJ Fluker, true freshman next year, may be our new LT.

4. The lack of a true passing threat killed us in our two losses. Yes, JPW deserves a lot of praise for his improvement, but he was never a threat to beat anyone with his arm.

5. We have to have another WR step up opposite of Julio.

6. I'll bet we see some personnel issues addressed, similar to tonight, to get more pressure on the QB. Upshaw, Anders, and maybe a true freshman or two will find ways into the lineup.

Can we not ban any UTES for coming over and razzing us? I feel like we all underestimated them, and I think we deserve it. Clearly, the team (and, it seems, even CNS) underestimated these guys, and they flat out exposed us tonight. They pulled down our pants and whipped our little hineys. Maybe I'm speaking for myself about the underestimating...

Please ban any and all Barners, though...
I think a lot of Bama fans did and it serves us right for being so damn egotistical about a program that's only been back one season.
That being said, I also think we were out coached and out played the entire game.We weren't ready for them in the first quarter. We came out slow footed with no energy and they took full advantage.

Sometimes you have to take your medicine and Utah shove said medicine down our throats.

Congrats to them, they have a fine football team.

It was a doomsday situation for Alabama. Smith out, a bad start against a solid team. The mounting injuries exposed our depth problems and JPW looked like JPW of the past 2 years.

I am still proud of the 12-2 season, what a ride. Hopefully this loss will stick in the minds of the players returning and serve as motivation.

First before I make any criticism I want to say, great season Crimson Tide! 12-2 is nothing to sneeze at or hang our heads about. What was up with our pass defense tonight? Why couldn't we stop those little slants? They killed us with that over the middle crap! Will this be a problem fixed with talent like Alonzo Lawrence and Dre Kirkpatrick, or is this a hole in our defensive schemes? I've been watching football for a long time and it seems like if we could play man, and jammed the receivers at the line, we could have stopped that. Maybe others saw something I didn't.

I stand by my earlier statement I still think we were the better team, we had them shut down(third score) and got a phantom pi penalty then they mug us no flag. then the punt off the leg + more we were forced out of our gameplan and lost to an inferior team! Attack me if you wish, but this is what I believe. RTR

Utah played a heck of a game. Us, not so much.

I'm just a girl. A lowly girl who has never played football. But one thing I have NEVER understood is why there hasn't been a game plan to neutralize speed and numbers when a team broadcasts they are going to put nine-ten in the box to stop us? I haven't seen this since Homer Smith in 1992 against Ole Miss. They lined up nine in the box and Jay Barker threw 25 of 39 for 285 yards in a 31-10 win. It doesn't have to be pretty, but I stand solidly by my philosophy that "Hike, Throw" doesn't have to be fancy. It also helps out a young OL...

I kept screaming for this all night. After all, isn't that what Utah did to us all night? On top of their version of "Hike, Throw" not once did we jam their go-to guy at the line to throw their rhythm off when we were on D.

I love Alabama. I've laughed, cried, and just about had a coronary cheering for them. I just don't think we were the least prepared for the nonsense we saw tonight. We knew we were short our best OL and should've been more prepared to neutralize Utah's speed and published claims to shut down our running game. I'll be interested to see what the coaches have to say.

It's been a heck of a season and I'm looking forward to next year. I just hate it for the seniors who gave so much to go out this way.

Say what you want about JPW but you can't lay this one at his feet. I don't remember a single pass play that he wasn't running for his life. It's amazing he complete as many as he did. This reminded me of the Barn game from Brodie's senior year. I guess the Utah fans shouldl get a Honk If You've Sacked JPW bumper sticker thing going.

I know it's a long-shot, but I'm hoping Andre feels guilty enough to want to come back and redeem himself next year. He's never played in a big bowl and if he comes back next year, he'll be able to.

The biggest thing that hurt is we would move the ball into thir territory and then stallout. You can't settle for field goals. You have to put up TD's. That is what hurt us

So true. We are in the midst of a MAJOR upgrade in talent, guys. The future looks bright.

The offense as a whole tonight was less than stellar, including JPW. Of course the line was not good either, nor was the defense. The whole team lost the game. Utah played better all around.

Thanks for a great 12 win seqason and a domination of the Barn.

Our bread and butter all year has been a dominate offensive line and running game. We were one dimensional with the makeshift o line and JPW has proven in the past that he cannot win games on his own.

Somebody has got to lose and tonight it was the good guys.

Rock and Roll Bama!!!

Re: please listen!!!

I hate to be so negative, but the team had a lot of "quit" in them tonight. It was just uninspiring football.

unfortunately, utah exposed our tide tonight. they blitzed from the first series, jaming up the lanes which prevented any big runs up the gut, and then when it became obvious, that we had to pass, they destroyed our tackles. once again we had to live thru the offensive line breakdown in our passing game. now we can see why coach wanted to prevent having to pass this season, not so much jpw as the lackof offensive line pass blocking, and any other receivers ready to step up besides julio. our defense had no pass rush, a few blitzes now and then. our corners were exposed in the florida game, and utah really beat them up. poorest tackling i have seen in years. we have to plug the offensive line, and get bigger stronger corners, and def ends that can get to the qb. still, a great season, except for the way it ended.

Tough loss. We didn't have much of an answer for their offense. Their defense played very well. Our make-shift O line was the real culprit of not being able to be productive on offense. Andre being absent was THE main reason (stating the obvious). I'm sad but optimistic. Looking forward to he 2009 football season. Looking forward to the break from college football in general as well...

2) It is obvious tonight that we missed Andre Smith. He has done a super job in his years at Bama. Thank you Andre. But with that said, whomever is at fault for him missing the game, I hope you choke on all the money Andre is going to make. Money is not everything. Now we know how our Oklahoma brethren felt when Boise St beat them. Congratulations to Utah tonight - they deserved to win the game.
I hope the money is worth the sacrifices Bama had to make tonite.:mad2: The team was let down by AS but would his presence have made a difference? I don't know. Utah wanted 13-0 and they got it. It's gotta sting, though, knowing there is no chance you can be #1.

As a 3rd generation Bama fan, I have really enjoyed reading the posts on Tide Fans. This is my first one, so in the words of Rick and Bubba, "Monkey Grass" and ROLL TIDE ROLL!:BigA:

Here's to the Gator's bringing home the NC for the SEC!!
