Another thing: I know Arkansas was using
“directIonal” punting to keep the ball away from Kool-Aid, but Kool-Aid acts as though he wants nothing to do with fielding the ball, even when kicked TO HIM. I know he has had a bunch of muffs this year, but if he has lost confidence, for Pete’s sake, put someone back there that will. They were getting 10-15 yards of “roll out” on their punts.
I don't understand why Kendrick Law isn't getting some opportunities back there.

At some point, it just becomes evident this team is not going to make a lot of progress. LT is a big problem. Poor coaching as we are not helping Milton out. Lack of discipline. We are beating these teams merely because we have more talent. When we run up against an equally talented team, we will be in trouble. That said, good to see the tenacity. Those mistakes will not beat a disciplined and well coached team.
I agree. We have some very tough games ahead of us.

JMHO but I’ve seen no throw JM has made that TS couldn’t make and I’ve seen plenty of throws JM has missed that TS would have made. We are boom or bust. Seems like we’ve only had a handful of good sustained drives. This won’t get it against good teams. But I’ll still cheer. Love watching the D. But they could use a more reliable O.
.

I do think a quick, accurate uptempo offense featuring short passes would unbridle the offense...both passing and running.

Then the deep shots would be there all day long.

I guess my question is there anything Rees can do in the short game with “easy throws” to attempt to get Milroe in some kind of rhythm? Dear lord he was so “off”’ in that second half. And a couple of drops didn’t help.
Milroe can’t make the short throw. He short arms the ball and it sails or just isn’t accurate. He can throw it long and that’s about it. some things you can fix but you can’t fix inaccuracy. Made the wrong choice at QB IMO but until someone at LT can block I don’t think it will matter.

What was up with throwing the ball away on third and three before the field goal? There was nobody close. Why not wait another second or two for someone to come open, or better yet, lower the shoulder and try to get those three yards.
This is one of my biggest beefs. In this attempt to turn Milroe into a pocket passer, we have taken away much of his instinctive athleticism.

No reason to throw that ball away. He had a chance to tuck it and at least get close to the first down. We are trying our damnedest to make “a silk purse out of pig’s ear” instead making what it could more easily be - a “really good wallet”.

I don't like seeing puke pumpkin orange losing to Texas A&M right now, as strange as that sounds. It's already gonna be a hard game and if they lose to aTm, that just gives them all the more reason to want to embarrass us

It's terrible to think but I've already had the same thought.

I'd rather them come in after a big win.

And who knows how we'll respond. We are just a big mystery from one play to the next, not to mention from one game to the next!

Granted Milroe struggled but the second half has to be placed on coaching staff. OC had a really bad day after early success. You gotta do things to help your QB. We were successfully running and then just went away from it
I was at the game and watched Milroe overthrow and throw high on his receivers all game. Multiple 1st downs missed by borderline wild throws. Also a couple miscommunications where he just completely missed a wide open WR by 10-20yds. Not sure what is going on there.

This is not news for anyone, but the LT positon has been a problem all year for the offense. Obviously, we don't have anybody on the team that can do better. If there is no improvement at this position, maybe double teaming would help.

He was beyond help in the 2nd half. It was a pitiful exhibition of QB play from a Div. 1 QB. But for the defense this team is ripe to be soundly beaten by a team with excellent QB play.

The screens would be best option if the d is stacking the box since that takes away the slants. Those plays with the TE in motion or comes back side and hit him in flat too. Play action but blocking has to work.
look at our formations when Arkansas ‘stacked.’ There had to be mistakes by WRs on alignment to cause that. Hawgs played much of the game in 6 and 7 man fronts. When Procter was in he repeatedly made poor attempts allowing line to collapse

He needs to lose a bunch of weight. It would help, but I'm afraid he may just not be quick enough to play LT.

I wonder about the competition he played against. I fear he didn't see a lot of speed rushers in HS football in Iowa.
I've had similar thoughts. Just was thinking in the Good, Bad thread he needs to lose weight. Might help his quickness.

But calling three straight pass plays, going three and out, is not smart. It’s the OCs job to put Milroe in best position to be successful. We were running well. Especially middle to right side. But we had 3, 3 and outs and put our defense in a horrible spot.

Doesn`t it usually mean you have to park another body, like a TE, over there to help out?
