Does AK Dear remind anyone else of T.J. Yeldon, as far as running style? When he broke the 56 yd TD I looked at my son and said, "He reminds me of TJ Yeldon." He replied, "I don't remember Yeldon." I responded, you know he caught the screen pass from AJ at Death Valley. He said the only thing I remember about AJ was that it seemed like he played for Bama forever. Youth...
I was sitting with my daughter and her boyfriend and they showed the ULM 2007 game. I asked if they remembered that, he said “no sir, I was 2”. 🤣

So it's hard to draw any real conclusions from a game like this but I think there's a few things to note down.

Firstly, we did our job. The same can't be said about a lot of teams this week. Florida lost to USF. Clemson struggled against Troy. UGA struggled offensively against Austin Peay. ASU lost Miss St. LSU struggled against LA tech. I could go on. We went into this game and took care of business.

I thought the intensity was really good and most importantly consistent throughout. We looked just as fired up in the 4th quarter as we did the 1st. Offense was consistent and the defense was flying all game.

Ty Simpson looked great and so did the rest of the offense. 17/17 speaks for itself. Russell looked good as well and I think it'll be a short period of time before he is QB2.

Overall just our attitude was good and that gives me confidence moving forward.

This is what I expected Bama to look like.

Let’s see if they can execute with this intensity against similarly talented teams.

Exactly! ULM was the proverbial "chopped liver" -- but we did what we were supposed to do. Intensity and execution will decide our fate, not talent.

We performed as well as we possibly could have tonight. I mean we scored on every possession and shut the opponent out. The only real takeaways I have from this game are that Simpson is, I think, dependable. Maybe not great, but he can run the offense if given even adequate time. The other is that our receivers are really good. I don’t know what happened in the FSU game, but Horton, Scott, and Brooks are great, but Bernard is on another level. He’s like a better version of Metchie. I like Ryan Williams, but Bernard is our best receiver. We will need Williams though just for the play making he’s capable of. Also, I think Carroll should be a starter going forward. He played well tonight.

I will hold judgement on the run game and the defense until at least next week, but they certainly performed well. I just don’t yet buy that Riley is a high end back. He looks like a WR playing RB, but he’s our best option until Jam returns and Dear is ready.

The effort was definitely there in all facets of the game. I enjoyed seeing the guys having fun and more importantly pulling for each other. You could tell last night these guys love each other. RTR

One thing I did like was getting some of these younger guys into the game earlier…and keeping the playbook open. CNS was one that would sub in blowouts but turned it into “keep it vanilla and run clock” approach on offense.

If you’re a young guy on offense, you want to be able to show what you can do in all facets of the game, particularly at quarterback.

I loved seeing so many true freshmen play , and play well. Marshall Pritchett played a lot. I bragged about Lotzier Brooks In the offseason, pegging him as the breakout star of his class. That prediction seems on course. Russell played well. AK Dear , Oh My! I know I missed probably 5 or 6 that played well.

CKD said Riley can do things the others can't. He's a small RB at 191 lbs, with a different style. And it works well in this offense. I've enjoyed watching him and Dear. Riley is a redshirt freshman and Dear is a true freshman. I love it they are contributing, and doing a great job. The RB room is looking good.

Bama opens as -18.5 favorite vs Wisconsin.

Wisconsin doesn’t have the talent to keep up with us if we are on, but Fickle needs a big win to save his bacon, and they are going to try to take advantage of an early kick and a team caught in between a very good feeling and a break before the biggest road trip of the season.

One thing that was proven tonight is that we have depth and talent everywhere. We’re just loaded with big time college players. Most impressed with protection of the football, and that’s 2 weeks in a row. Also impressed with pocket presence by QB’s when protection broke down. We have not had that pocket presence in 2 years. Both Simpson and Mack.
I’ll pick out one really irritating thing: Kirkpatrick Jr’s targeting late in the game, specifically Coach Deboer’s reaction, which was very muted, from what I could tell. He may have lit into him over it somewhere the camera wasn’t, but it’s the kind of play that Coach Saban would have blown a gasket over. Details. Sloppy. That happens on the road against a quality opponent, it can cost a game.
Overall great performance. Let’s see it against better teams, and in their place.

Great response to the previous debacle. We went out and did exactly what we were supposed to do - completely destroy a lesser opponent. I hope they can keep this level of intensity and play with that chip on their shoulders as the season progresses.

TS had a great game. You couldn't ask for more. And KR really impressed me with his vision and quick release.

This is the game we need to have. We needed this game to re-establish our identity and confidence to believe in each other and just stop complaining and take one play at a time. Okay, I'm done talking about the fans.

Now for the players... Same statement. I was happy to see some changes within the players and coaches. I think they got the message. I was not expecting a blowout game last night. I had hope that it would be at least 48-13 type of game for me to have confidence in this team. but 73-0 though?

I don't care who the team was, but the fact we started fast, and we played 3 qbs, several rbs and others? Love it.

There is no QB controversy. Mack is nice. But he was throwing ball hard and behind receivers' way too much last night. Russell is improving and I think he'll be ready next year.

Names to watch next week: Riley, Brooks, Carroll and Mboumboua.

I really can’t take anything away from the final score, that kind of lop sidedness is expected when playing these weak teams.

What I loved seeing was the focus, intensity, and fight from everyone on the field on both sides of the ball. It was there from the opening kickoff until 0:00. Who knows what would have happened if they played like that last week.

If they keep this up the rest of the year, especially on some big time road games, then maybe I’ll be on the DeBoer bandwagon at the end of the season.

OMG! Russel looks special. I hope we can keep him away from the portal.
