Question: In OT, on the 3rd down pass to Burton, did anyone else think he was being held prior to the ball arriving? I could see it either way.
Given some of the keystone cops exhibitions we’ve seen with SEC crews, I thought it was a pretty clean “let them play” game. I thought they missed a couple of holding calls (one on Turner and one on Ebiogbe) but thought for the most part they did a decent job.
I thought he actually pushed off and it's a wonder we weren't called for OPI.

I’ll add this too. Milroe has some improving to do. Our schedule is brutal next year, and everyone and their brother is going to play zone and blitz him after watching this game. He better get it figured out. I guarantee UGA won’t have 2 spies on him in again in Sept.

The refs did "let them play" for the most part. But there were some egregious calls missed. Roughing the punter on UM, which would have extended a drive for us, missed false start on UM's first TD, and missed facemask on UM which would have extended another drive for us.

They missed several holds on UM's OL. I don't think they missed any holds on our OL because our OL was getting knocked on its rear for the most part. They did miss a tackle out of bounds on us, but it was on UM's last drive and did not keep them from scoring.

I don't think they favored either team that much but some of the misses on UM would have really helped us out. I can't say they would have made a difference in the outcome because we shot ourselves in the foot so much and UM dominated the LOS so often in the game.

I don't mind losing a game like that so much.

We got outplayed, plain and simple.

Beats a miracle and bad calls every time.
I just hate we lost to them.

And while I've never like Harbaugh or Michigan, I would not have felt this way had the cheating scandal not been revealed. So that gets revealed, verifying what kind of dirty program they've been running, and despite it being public knowledge and now you know they aren't stealing signs (because surely you've changed yours up) you still get outplayed.

Not pleasant. Not pleasant at all.

yeah, it isn't that we lost, it is who we lost to.

I thought the Milroe fumble was the turning point. We had the opportunity to go up 24-13 in the 4th quarter and probably put the game away. That completely changed the momentum imo and our offense went back into a shell.
With all due respect, I don't see it. We were driving, true. But they didn't score. We got the ball and drove right back into their territory until we gave up a huge sack. All the while the clock kept running. We had the game on our racquet with four minutes to go. The fourth down play to Corum changed everything.

First, it was the counter to the left side with a guard pulling that was the called play.

Second, it was Roydell and you are right he was open, but there's post game discussion from CNS and JM and the called play was a run. They just didn't execute it from snap, to right side getting blown up to Jalen following the pulling guard who won his matchup. Total failure.
Bingo! It was a running play with the guard pulling and Michigan's end looped outside so the guard had a choice to go inside with a block or take on the end, the low snap changed everything and I think Milroe panicked and just ran it up the middle

No matter Saban's cover for JM and TR, that's what I'll always believe. The blocking belies that explanation. Even if it were the call, it's just blind panic to run towards the congestion. It reminded me of this old Trent Richardson "vision" photo...Trent missing hole.png

The missed call on Burnip was pretty big…it was early, but we’d have had a 1st down@ the 40…

I found that to be one of the more crushing defeats in my years as a Bama fan. Clemson destroyed us in 2017. That one hurt. But, Clemson also had a stud QB and really good players all over the field. Georgia beat us in 2021 but since we didn't have Metchie, Williams (got hurt early in game) and our 2 starting corners, that one hurt less.

This one was different. Bama had more talent. Not even close. Michigan was better prepared and out schemed Bama most of the game. That was frustrating. Watching Michigan drive the field with under 4 minutes to go to tie the game up was excruciating to watch. I really thought we had won the game. Didn't think they had a chance to drive the field and tie it up.

I don't know where you go from here. I really don't. Milroe is not a national championship winning QB. Sorry, he isn't. And do you see game changing wide receivers out there? Can we field a o-line that gels from the get go and dominates a game? Do we ever have a somewhat dominating defense again? I feel bummed.

How do you know what kind of receivers Alabama has? Do you know receivers who can get open thirty yards down the field in umbrella coverage?

Michigan was not going to get beat deep, which is part of what taking away What Milroe does.

I agree on the Burnip call. Would have extended the drive. And one hold on Dallas Turner was on the flea flicker throw back to their QB which they hit downfield. THAT was one no one should miss because the Michigan LT fully extended his left arm away from his body in order to “grab and hook” Turner.

All of that said, officiating didn’t cost us this game. I agree with what @81usaf92 said in an earlier post. Our players were talking about sign stealing, catapult and iPads, and previous coaches “opinions”, while the Michigan team came there to take care of business.
