I wonder if Grubb remembers why he got fired from Seattle? I hope he does and RUNS DA BAWL!!! I know he loves to pass, but if he establishes the run and gets the OL in a rhythm, he can then pass all he wants. But I hope to god he doesn't come out throwing the ball all over the place, and the RB is just a blocker.
I think he, or DeBoer, wants a more balanced approach. DeBoer would likely want 50/50. Maybe at least 60pass/40run. Or whatever is having the most success.

I just hope we come out and build off of last Saturday.
While Wisconsin is not top tier they are better than ULM.
This gives us a decent test and hopefully confidence booster heading into Athens in two weeks.
As for Ryan Williams: if he can go you gotta let him get some reps in and as far as that goes he needs to show more "want to" than he did against Florida ST. He's gotta show some toughness both physically and mentally.
The kid has talent and is a difference maker and has all the intangibles to blow a defense up. He just needs to get back out there and do it.

Agreed. I still think the game will go similar to the game we played against USCe last year, tough, close and lucky to get out with the win. I just get the feeling that this year will truly be a struggle from game to game. Gonna win some close ones. Probly lose some too.

It'll be a good test of both sides of our LOS. Neither played winning ball in Tallahassee. Though like many others, I'm still bumfuzzled as to why we got away from what worked so well in the opening drive.

We were better against La. Monroe. But due to the level of competition, it's hard to get a true read from that.

As others have said, Wisconsin might not be elite, but they're tons better than La. Monroe and we need to show continued improvement. It's not like the DLs and OLs in the SEC will be getting any easier.

If we can run well enough to keep the heat off Simpson, and/or complete enough quick-hitters to get the LBs and DBs playing honest, I think we'll be OK.

Just to make other Ds respect the threat, we do need to complete a long pass or two, 20 - 30 yards or more in the air. So far, that's been the one shortcoming in our passing game.

Here's the longest passes in the ULM game.
22 - Simpson to Bernard
29 TD Simpson to Bernard
25 Simpson to Rico Scott
29 TD Simpson to Isaiah Horton
25 Austin Mack to Cole Adams
20 TD Keelan Russell to MJ Chirgwin (redshirt senior walk-on)

None over 30 yards. Maybe not showing the long ones until Jawja?

Long ones got us in trouble versus FSU.

I think the long ball will have to wait until the line gets better, or the shorter passes have tired out the rush a little.
