The good news - whoever comes in will be running the same plays. Saban now has all of those play books. Saban now understands how they are designed, and what they are designed to do to defenses. He is not going to bring in a guy and start running an inferior set of plays.

Now, to find the right guy to call the right play at the right time.

I have no problem with Sarkisian taking the Texas job, it is potentially a NC contending program, great recruiting footprint, big money for him and his assistants, and most important, with the exception of Oklahoma, is in a weak conference. The down side is the involvement of the monied boosters wanting to have input and access to the program. I am sure CNS told Sarkisian this and let him know that he, Saban, declined Texas's interest because of that down side. So I am assuming Sarkisian enters into this relationship with his eyes wide open. I admire Coach Sarkisian and his willingness to finish the season. I wish him well and appreciate his dedication and service to the team.

As my wife just exclaimed, "That means Saban plans to die in the saddle!". So, I was dead wrong about Saban leaving. I guess he may be looking forward to the new challenges of paying players/ NIL, etc. He wants to be a leader and show how to do it the right way. Need a hotshot coordinator stat!!

Well, I hate Sark is leaving, but Tom Herman is available.....

Just a few years ago, he was the Ohio State OC that was the hottest assistant in the country after having helped tOSU to the national championship, trucking us in the Sugar Bowl along the way.....I know, I know.... the final score was only 7 points. But the game wasn’t as close as the score would indicate. We scored the first 14 points, largely off of tOSU mistakes, got outscored by 21 the rest of the way, and it could have been worse.

Yet another entry into the Saban coaching rehab program? I’d take him in a heartbeat.

My initial response to this was panic. Then I remembered that this is not coach Saban’s first rodeo. He knew last year that Sark might leave. He most definitely has multiple candidates in mind and I would guess most guys will jump at the chance to build their resume under Saban.
Where this becomes bad for Bama is if Sark takes our top recruiters like Banks, Scott and Huff. Also, losing Flood would hurt. We will still have some of the best players in the country. Next OC up.
