And was thinking the same as you. I was warned that our o-line was a concern, it showed against middle, tonight it really shows. Hopefully we get it together soon. SB

It shows, however I think they look realy good in spurts. By the end of the season I think they should have it together. It realy all depends on the win/loss columns. If we are 3-0 after next week regardless what the scores are, these guys will begin to gain confedence! That is probably the most important thing.

Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think I have ever been as glad to see a Bama game get to half time before. I watched it all, sometimes with one eye closed, but I find it hard to believe how drastic the momentum changed after that interception throw. Crazy is about the best word to describe it. It was like the entire team just completely lost confidence or focus.

The coaches will earn their pay and have their work cut out for them in turning this one around.

Well Babyray. In fairness, Southern Miss only had one true touchdown drive and that was the drive that gave them the 21-10 lead. I think the Eagles only had around 90-100 yards total offense. Alabama certainly aided them by the careless INT Brodie threw which lead to an easy TD and then the bad punt by Aul which led to an easy 15 yard TD drive. Because of Alabama being down 21-10 I think it derailed their mentality a bit but the score before halftime was huge. We made solid 2nd half adjustments against MTSU lets do it again here.

Good points (nm)

Yep! Good analysis!!!

Repea that was one of the dumbest things I have heard. "Brodie is not the QB he was"? He throws for 219 yards and two TD's in a half and it's just not enough. Southern Miss changed up their defense and fell back to a zone coverage with some blitz here and there which takes away the deep ball. The problem isnt that Brodie is gun shy, the problem is that he likes the 50+ yard bombs. He needs to settle down and take advantage of the underneath routes that USM is giving him.

is good, and he's schooling Capps...

Actually I think Capps has been benched. It looks like class has started up for Cody Davis at LT. I don't know if the benching was for the game or just the half. We will see.

The OL was one of the main topics of discussion on the football forum prior to the season opener.

I think that I was engaging in "idle bantering" on the Non-Sports forum at the time! :)

Easy guys, we will be OK! The OL needs to step up, we need the running game. We also need a big stop here to start the second half. We will be OK.

Even more now, I think that our success this year is totally dependant on Brodie Croyle. I don't know how ready the freshmen might be, but going to the running game - like we did last year - would not appear to be an option. We will need to throw the ball 30-40 time per game to win this year...
