Six-foot-5, 339-pound offensive lineman Spencer Region (Cullman, Ala./Cullman) said he's still looking at five schools -- Auburn, Wisconsin, LSU, Louisville and Georgia -- and is just about ready to set up some official visits.
"I am going to wait until after this game and then I will set up all my visits," Region said.

Got to suck for a kid who supposedly grew up a Tide fan. Just goes to show you should always keep your ego in check and your words soft because you might have to eat them one day.

Yep just when you think you are bigger than the university they can always bring you back to Earth. I hate it for the kid but it seems he brought it all on himself. He could have been apart of a special class that could rival Saban's first true class but now he wont be brought in unless we have a meltdown on signing day..

Shouldnt we say we quit recruiting him awhile ago instead of "Alabama is not in his picture"?? Man even though he makes bone-headed moves he probably had a chance but there is no way he ends up with us now...

I have, we all have, for some reason he keeps showing up in threads. We know Bama is not recruiting him and we have said it on this board for a long while now. Alabama is not in his picture and vice versa. I don't think that he ever had a commitable offer from Bama despite some recruiting sites saying that he did. That was the problem that he had with Bama. He wanted a commitable offer and he didn't have one.

Hard to find words for Spencer Region. As long as I have followed recruiting, about the only greater nut job was the guy a long time ago who tricked all his family and friends into thinking he got a Division I offer......but he made it all up. I seriously think that kid drank some bad Kool Aid up there in Cullman or something.

The kid has great size but his fourty time seems slow! I think he played Al and Au a little too much, and he never was a priority. If he was as good as he thought he was, I am sure we could hold a spot for him! I am sure we are hoding 3 spots, Crowell, Clowney, and Kuan-------! To finish with these 3 would be unreal, probably the best class we have ever signed or maybe anyone! RTR

Seems to me the classy thing for a school to do is to allow the athlete to proclaim he dropped the school from his list, rather than the school saying they're no longer recruiting the athlete. The coaches and the athlete know the real situation. It doesn't hurt the school a bit for the athlete to proclaim he's no longer interested in that particular school. But to other athletes it could come across as overbearing or arrogant for the school to preemptively say they're not recruiting an athlete. It's just not good business. OK, so Region says he's no longer considering Bama. The Bama coaches shrug their shoulders, say they're sorry things didn't work out, then get on with life. Leave all other machinations to the fans.

Bama is not letting the Regionator do anything. They didn't let him pitch a fit and commit to the barn and run down Bama because he didn't have a commitable offer. They didn't let him decommit from the barn and virtually stalk the Tide either. If you have followed Regions recruitment on this board over the last year you would know that Bama has not been recruiting him seriously with a committable offer for a long while if ever? We have had a bunch of threads on the situation. Search Spencer Region's name on this board's search function and read the chronicles. Bama let him visit Bama practices and he took numerous unofficial visits to Bama games but they are not 'allowing' him to proclaim anything. Bama cannot comment on Region so what he says is what he says, nothing more or nothing less. Just because he says something does not make it true. As a matter of fact I am done commenting on Region until after NSD. lol
