Oh, how I'd hate to be an aubie

Think about this. We've had Bear Bryant and Nick Saban, arguably the two best college coaches in the history of NCAA football. Plus, we have had Gene Stallings, Frank Thomas and Wallace Wade. AU is getting ready to play for the national championship, and all the media has wanted to talk about the past few weeks is Nick Saban and the possibility that he might leave Alabama, when we all knew he wasn't leaving.

How frustrating it must be every time your team is at the pinnacle of college football (which is almost never), all the media wants to talk about is Alabama's football coach or in 2010, your QB who is accused of shopping his services to play for your team. They never enjoy their moment because either the AU fans or the media are obsessed with what Alabama is doing. Aubies don't know how to handle success. I love it!!!

I hate Auburn as much as anyone, but I'll grudgingly give credit where due. Unlike the 1970's where they got totally steamrolled by Coach Bryant at the pinnacle of his success, they've managed to stand up to our current run under Saban. They've got the same number of SEC titles (2) as we do since Saban arrived, and they've got a chance at a second National Championship to go with our 3. Not to mention that their wins over us in 2010 and 2013 rank among the most gut-wrenching in the history of the Alabama program (I'd say only Punt-Bama-Punt and the 24-23 loss to Notre Dame in the 1973 Sugar Bowl would compare).

All good points, and I have always given them their due. I guess gut-wrenching losses always come eventually with greatness. But comparing our SEC Championships and national titles to theirs...well, there just isn't any way they can compare.

Yup..And on a National level, this NC Game, has the least amount of buzz I can recall..What little buzz or talk that's going on about the game, isn't so much about how great the teams are, the talk is about, ending the SEC Championship run in the BCS..Poor Barners just can never earn the national respect like Big Brother Alabama has earned..Auburn will always be an afterthought in the the national media talk..LOL
