I don't know if it's just me, but why does CMS always look like Deer caught in headlights??? Plus, he plays so conservatively it makes me ill. He needs to get a clue when you are behind and on the opponents 37 with 4th and 1....GO FOR IT DUDE!!!!!!! For God's sake, grow a spine and take some chances....Ok, end of rant....Overall, the running game looks great and the offensive line are hosses!!!....come on Tide, suck it up and go out and win the next 3 games......

Tough call. Both coaches were playing field position. I wanted to go for it, but I am on the outside looking in. Deer in the headlights? What do you mean by that? He looked fine to me. Do you mean he looked scared or just stupid?

Well....

What I meant by Deer in headlights is that he looks like when he calls a play he's not sure or something..I can't put my finger on it. Maybe he's thinking to hard and it somehow comes across as looking lost on the sidelines...

I know he's still new at the HC'ing job, but he needs to make some changes or we are seriously doomed...I pray that I'm wrong

True. One the field position battle, I understand. I am talking about the offense in general.. it looked rather plain. We will win several more games this year, even looking plain. But something will have to give for next year to get back into contention for championships.

I have to give him somewhat of a break, he basically had a green freshman playing QB, but I do believe Guillon can be a really good QB one day.

There is no doubt that having Brodie in the game would have made all the difference in the world. The psycological factor by itself was enough to throw the team off and as someone mentioned, it seemed as if Shula didn't have much confidence in Guillon. The whole team seemed out of sinc at times.

Shula's offense looked great the first three games, it was balanced and very effective in the red zone. He has the ability to be one of the better play callers,
this game was not one of his best though.

We lost a fourth of our offense when Brodie went down. It may take the rest of the season to get that fourth back. Marc is going to be good but I believe losing Croyle will cost us at least three wins this year.

Probation continues to plaque us for another couple of years. The NCAA wouldn't have it any other way.

Be happy with a 6 or 7 win season this year, a bowl game and continued road to recovery next year with Croyle and Guillon both healthy.

With one difference: Nutt was protecting a lead.

Now, I am NOT saying that that one call, by itself, cost us the game. There were probably three or four keys plays, any one of which could have turned the Tide, so to speak:

1. If Darby doesn't fumble.
2. If DeMeco Ryans turns around and knocks the TD pass away.
3. If Ezekial Knight downs the ball on the 5 instead of trying for the 1-foot line.
4. Not going for it on 4th and 1.

I understand that Shula was playing a field position game, but at some point, trailing on the road, you have to take a chance or two.

Um...

On the road you have to take chances...Hey, it's a close game, why not try out a trick play?? You have to, HAVE to, HAVE.TO. go for it on 4th down and 1 on the road from your opponents 37 yard line. Period. I know a lot of people on this board like to defend the coaches and the players no matter what for whatever reason, but that was just a bad call, period. Sure, there were several other factors that determined the game as well...but mid-4th qtr, 4th and 1 on the 37, your O-Line has been dominating all day, your going against a poor, poor, poor run defense.....................seriously....I don't know if it's Rader's fault or Shula's fault...but we gotta have someone else calling the plays. The playcalling passing-wise has been timid and seemingly uncertain under Shula for whatever reason. Even when Brodie was healthy we would always fall back on the running game. Granted, the running game is our strength this year, but at LEAST show a few more formations, give the defense something to think about. We didn't and haven't done any of those things since whoever is calling the plays, Shula or Rader, has been here. Now, of course it's early, so I'll reserve my final opinion of the offense and the playcalling until the end of the season, but right now, and for the 17 games that Rader and Shula have been here, the playcalling has been predictable, utterly conservative, and very Big Ten-esque. Let's open it up, eh?

4th and 1 .

It really is brain less...4th and 1 on the 37....too close to punt, and too far for a fg. The way our OL was pushing a quick sneak or a quick dive with the fb will make it 90% of the time.I went nut's with the call at the time not after the result. IMO the decision sent a poor message to the team, and the game went down hill after that.I hate to lose of course, but I'm tired of excuses.

I personally felt it was a bad call... but in every game you have bad calls even in those we win.

Other than that, well, I feel that we played good. We (I think) are still the leading rushing team in the SEC.

To:

GoBamaJags, wisten, & DisplacedBamaFan : I sooooooo agree with you guys - and 2 things: first of all, Mike is a good lookin' guy - but he can't help that when he's just lookin' straight out with no particular expression that it casts a certain look in the eyes - but trust me - he's NOT scared...AND it's not that he is not emotional either- he has as much as any of us all put together - he is just classy & is man enough not to let himself get out of control ---- he doesn't SHOW it publically like that. Some people can just do that. Lots of people admire that qwuality. It's like he knows something we don't know. (& believe me, he DOES)

I just came from a function where there were over 400 Tuscaloosan's - of those discussing the game, everyone says to give MG time - that he will develop & they wish that people would let the coaches do the coaching. They know more than we do & that's why we DON'T always unederstand why certain things are done the way they are.

We lost.
We're all disappointed. But - we need to move on & help encouarge those guys for SOUTH CAROLINA & STAY behind them - they need that NOW more than EVER!
