All of that is fair but it’s still a “moo” point, as Joey would say. The BCS era really has nothing to do with this argument.

Let's put it this way......precisely whom did ATM beat?

OK, they beat Florida (by fewer points than LSU did and it was a bit of luck, but okay)

Who else? Miss St, Vandy, Arky, SCAR

I'll grant they beat LSU, who isn't any good this year, but they struggled to beat a not very good LSU team, too.

They have two quality teams one "we got lucky" win and a blowout loss.


Now just to be fair.....I think what the cmte SHOULD have done was:
a) rule out Ohio St on the basis of 1/2 season
b) select Cincinnati as an undefeated conf champion
c) selected ATM over the Irish

That would have at least pushed the door open A BIT given nowadays teams are basically fighting to see who gets the slot not provided Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio St/Oklahoma (whichever one makes it - ever notice 2019 was the only time they BOTH made it.....and that's only because Alabama gave up our spot).

I agree with you. A&M had the luxury of only losing to Bama, while playing an otherwise meh schedule (save the UF win). They aren’t a G5 team so they’re not the “sexy, trendy” pick and they aren’t a huge name otherwise. They didn’t make it in, simply because of who they are. They never really had a chance, going against OSU and ND. Right or wrong, I’ll put my money on college football bluebloods over a weird military school with male cheerleaders any day...

Edit: I should clarify I think A&M should have made it. I just knew they wouldn’t. The committee needs to go.

Before the playoffs, the two best teams were:
2015 - Bama and Clemson
2016 - Bama and Clemson
2017 - Bama and UGA
2018 - Bama and Clemson
2019 - LSU and Clemson

Those teams made the title every time. Please remind me why we even need the semifinals again?

DuBose - 0-1 (98 MSU)
Shula - 1-0 - (06 Cotton)

3-1 with the pre-Saban folks
17-0 with Saban

Also......our average margin of victory in the Saban era games I attend in 29 points, and no team has ever been closer than 14 points at the end (2015 and 2017 LSU both).

11 times we scored on the first drive
2 times we scored field goals on the first drive
4 times we failed to score on the first drive (one was a missed FG by....Adam)
4 times we scored on the first Bama snap of the game
once we scored on the second snap

Yeah that amazes me, too. But fwiw - I was also in the stadium when both Vinnie Sunseri and Eddie Jackson's careers ended with injuries, too.

And I don't "just" go to the riff-raff games, either. I've seen us play four teams ranked in the top ten that were just as one-sided as the pre-season ones we schedule.

That stretch includes a 4-1 record in CFP games. I'd kinda like to go too! Especially since were playing cult leprechaun.
