It seemed to me that the announcers were told not to criticize the defenses. Last week the announcers criticized the WVU/OSU defenses the entire game. This week they did not do so once. Not one time. Had to be purposeful.
Was it the same announcers?

Sorry Big TIDE.

But I am pulling for Michigan tomorrow....I just can't stomach Oklahoma in the playoff again with that basketball on grass garbage. and I am not sure Ohio state would get in over a 1 loss Oklahoma. like everyone loves the rose bowl last year and I can't get over the score. I can't stomach a team playing that kind of football and considering themselves a "championship contender"

Pull for Texas next week. Pull for Ohio State to maul Michigan and destroy Northwestern. It might be enough to overcome OU, should they finish 12-1.

But I Hate Texas also...And honestly I am not crazy about Ohio state anyway. But I have always kept that to myself cause Because Big tide is a nice guy...Like it makes me angry he is so nice and an ohio state fan. (sort of blue font maybe)

What is the percentage of beating a team twice in one season? I know it is below 50%.
In the SEC it's about 71% :). I don't know about all of college football but in the SEC Championship Game the winner of the regular season game is 5-2 in a rematch. 3 of the wins were worse than the reg season, 1 was about the same and 1 was closer. That's not a big sample size but it's all we have in the SEC.

I remember that LSU beat OM in the reg season in the late 1959 (I was a little boy and don't remember the details except the Chinese Bandits, the White team and Charlie Flowers an OM RB) and were blasted 21-0 in the Sugar Bowl rematch. Also, OSU crushed UCLA (Vermeil was the HC) in the reg season in ~1975 then UCLA won the rematch in the Rose Bowl. So, maybe those games set the oft quoted narrative to which you referred. It probably hasn't happened a great deal in P5 history.

The UW/WS game was a fun game to watch. My wife and I laughed countless times watching football last night. In the UW game we laughed at the results of the slippery field. There were multiple players on their keisters on every play - some untouched by anything other than gravity. During the OU game we laughed at the ineptitude shown by both teams' defenses.

I can see why the Sooners fired their DC. Now they need to fire every other coach on that side of the ball. I did not see a single fundamentally sound defensive play last night. Both defenses got lucky a few times because the QBs played sloppy football, but that is all that was - blind squirrel finding a nut. Those QBs, as good as they are, are used to playing against air. When either was pressured, they played very poorly.

In this thread last night someone compared the OU game to the 3-2 Auburn/MSU game. My wife and I agreed with that assessment. They represent opposite sides of the same coin. In the AU game both teams had solid defenses and horrid offenses. In last night's game, both teams had solid offenses and horrid defenses. Both were hard to watch because the play was so fundamentally flawed.

Doesn't matter - OU is not a threat to anyone with a defense.
I am thinking the same thing.. hope you are right. I don't want them to make the playoffs. OU defense was pretty bad last year also, but they stayed in the game for awhile v UGA who had a really good defense. I think OU offense is better this year and their defense is worse.

Have any of the top 6 teams faced an offense like OU this year? I know Clemson and Notre Dame haven't. Not sure about Michigan unless Ohio State's offense is similar to OU.

Totally agree and it baffles me that "experts" take these statistics from this conference seriously.

The Oklahoma safeties are still smoking from the torching Grier put on them. I know at least three times those guys didn't even start to run until the receiver was EVEN with them. Just terrible execution.

OKLA comes out with a win, but I was more impressed with Will Grier than Kyler Murray. Clearly, based on their school hopping, neither could play in the SEC.
