1) Ty made some uncharacteristic mistakes yesterday, some of which due to his internal clock speeding up from the pressures the Oline was receiving the entire game. On the sack-fumble play, he should've known the RT was going to be on an island, and move up in the pocket. I still don't know if he or the WR was at fault for the pick-six.
2) At one point in the game, the OU defense had matched the Alabama offense in point scoring, and the OU special teams had scored more points than the Alabama offense. Those mistakes on special teams gifted points to the OU, which ended up being insurmountable. Also, Talty didn't win himself any favors in going after the LS for the high snap. The holder still managed to get it down for Talty to kick it, and his foot placement on the ball was not great. This doesn't even include the OU guy getting a hand on it. As for the him jumping over the line, the rule does not allow players to get a running start to jump over the line and block. It does allow for a player to jump over from a set position. Did he get on someone's back to do it? I don't know.
3) The defense played as well as they could, even when placed in untenable field positions and limiting OU to FGs. If Jefferson had held onto the pass he tried to intercept, that's points off the board for OU. The defense has been giving the offense chance after chance against LSU and OU to get points, and the effort has not been totally rewarded.
4) Maybe Grubb can build on Daniel Hall running the ball. Granted the bar was low, but he had the most successful runs Alabama has had all season. Jam Miller has the size to run inside, but he appears to dance too much (partially maybe due to the Oline), and doesn't seem to run low either.
Alabama still has control of its destiny, but it definitely lost any margin for error with the OU loss. Some of the stats from yesterday show that Alabama outplayed OU by the end of the game - except on the scoreboard. Since it felt its backs were against the wall after losing to FSU, maybe this is another wake-up call, a la OSU losing to Michigan last season.
