To me this is quite the interesting, could be as good as any game the first week of the season. The only relative strengths that OM brings into the game are at OL and RB. It's just not going to beat BYU. I'm hoping the Rebs pull it out, but don't have much hope. Note if you possess more than a cursory knowledge of BYU, it's more than I know! I've always disliked them and don't generally watch unless it's a compelling match or I have a rooting interest such as a SEC tie in this weekend.

BYU 27
OM 17

I'll take Ole Miss, but only because they are at home. They dismantled Fresno State last year at home so that makes me think they can escape this game against a similar type program with a narrow victory. Ole Miss does like to lose to teams like Memphis and Vandy at the beginning of the year though so I won't be surprised at all if they lay an egg in the opener.

I have to agree with ya'll. As much as would like the rebels to win this, I believe Byu has a good team, and it is hard for me to see Ole Sis pulling this one out, but Ole Nutt has surprised me before.

I agree that Nutt's career is on the line here. This is his 'make or break' season.
I think though that if Ole Siss is going to tank, at least they'll wait until conference play to do it.
Ole Miss 28 BYU 13

Just like Jacksonville State last year. I might have been a bit wide with the point differential, but I still see them dropping this one. But as long as they win the party, all will be well on the Grove.

At least there will be plenty of alcohol around for the Black Bears to drown their sorrows in.

Ooh perhaps they can pour alcohol along the goal lines as a sort of 'mormon repellant'? Probably a better use than 'drowning sorrows' with it.

@Bama1979 I think BYU is quite a bit better than Fresno St, or at least they usually are.

BYU by 7. Humidity will have no effect on BYU. They gave us a good game to open the season in 1998. I know that was ages ago, but still the humidity had little effect.

I think BYU wins it, but Houston thrives in this type of game. Everyone says BYU will win, so Ole Miss will probably win because Houston wins this type of game.

BYU has 10 returning starters on offense and 8 on defense. Their starting QB was a true freshman last year that threw for over 2300 yds & 15 TDs.

Ole Miss. has only 5 starters from last years defense retuning with their best LB out for the year (DT Shackleford). IMO... Ole miss is really hurting this year on experience especially on defense and they have a QB that has never taken a snap in a game and has had a hard time at times with accuracy during practice. I'm going to give BYU the edge on this one.
