Let us observe a moment of silence in memory of Michael Kennedy, 39, who splattered himself all over Aspen playing ski football.

Michael, son of Robert and Ethel Kennedy, saw his political career go south earlier after his estranged wife caught him in bed with a 14-year-old babysitter. He was in jeopardy of facing a statutory rape charge when the girl's parents refused to press charges. (That Kennedy money has been so helpful over the years.)

Witnesses said Michael and friends were playing ski football with a snow-filled water bottle. They were skiing without poles on ice-slick snow despite warnings from the Ski Patrol.

Michael was both playing and taping the action. He went out for a pass and into the tree. He was pretty well squished by the time they got the remains to a hospital.
