Watching the Oklahoma game now and Brent Venables diagnosed Bama's offense well. The Sooners declared bluntly, "You will not run #4 on us. We will accept risk elsewhere, but he will not be allowed to run on us. Period."
And the Bama coaching staff had no answer. Just keep trying to run the QB against 8 in the box.
Frustrating to watch.

I wish some Alabama fans would stop acting like any doubt about elements of Alabama's team is disrespect.
I don't know who ever started this nonsense, but it has become about the most predictable and nonsensical cliche ever in regard to sports, which is amazing when you consider how many cliches are used regarding sports.

Kirk Herbstreit gets praised repeatedly here as an analyst and then when he correctly predicts Auburn will win the SEC in 2010 or says "Clemson is the best team in the country" in 2016, somehow he's dissing Alabama. And somehow his walking off the set when we were selected in 2017 - WHICH HE ADVOCATED - has been turned into "he was an Ohio State homer," when he was just saying Alabama SHOULD go but he thought the CFP would choose Ohio State.

Having an opinion less than absolute worship doesn't mean someone "disrespects" us.

(I lived through Nolan Richardson pulling this nonsense when I lived in Arkansas and they were a national contender for two years. "They don't respect us" and yet you'd see their name at or near the top of the rankings every week and they'd be favored to win pretty much every game. But somehow pointing out they had some major flaws in their game was both "don't respect us" and "racist," at least to hear Nolan talk).

"They didn't think we could do it, but we did!"
Uh......who exactly is "they"?

"Nobody thought we could do it!"
Uh......I'm sure you and your teammates did and your fans and, you know, the guys who BET MONEY on you.

It's like every one of these guys wants to be Joe Namath - whose grievance REALLY WAS TRUE in 1968,

I'm a "prove it to me on the field" guy ... it's also why I don't follow recruiting much or brag about what Alabama is going to do before they've done it.

IF we show up and show out and still aren't getting respect, then I'll go on the "they're dissin us" tour myself. Until then, let'em say what they want because of all the reasons Tidewater lists! It's reverse rat poison :D
I feel kind of the same way. I like the lack of respect. I want our team to go into every game hungry for a win.
I want every team we play to be looking ahead and past us.
When Coach Saban was there he would Call Off The Dogs when we got a good lead, I want us to pile on and run up the score. If we make the playoffs I want every team to dread playing us.
NO MORE MR NICE GUY...

Cautiously optimistic. Underdog with a little chip on the shoulder would be nice to see on the field this year. Would even be content with an unexpected run like '91(Still working things out but showing progress)/'92(Holy Snap! Everybody has each others back), or 2008/2009. But the minute we start seeing "L"nK's being thrown up for every celebration, its back to the radio broadcast days for the season.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
Now that Saban has left we're (until proven otherwise) a "regular" football program. We're not coached by a Hall of Fame coach who dominates college football. The day Saban retired from Alabama the entire college football world threw a party. FINALLY! FINALLY! In their minds, now other programs have a chance to fill the championship slots Saban routinely got Alabama to.

So it's not really an element of disrespect but more of a "this is who you are now until proven otherwise", and we went 9-4 last season losing to Vanderbilt, a very bad Oklahoma team, and Michigan's third string. So far "they" are right...

Top to bottom, I think this is one of the best coaching staffs we've add in years.

Sure, CKD, is not CNS, but the Goat struggled with hiring good assistants after Kirby, Lane, and Sark left.
Yes, but that mostly was age related . Coaches didn’t want to take a chance and have coach retire on them. Plus, good young coaches could get the Saban cliff notes in Athens, Eugene, and Austin.

Listening to 92-9 the game in Atlanta last week, Dukes and Bell made the comment while reviewing LSU that the only team on the tigers schedule they can beat is Alabama. Ouch. Disrespect. Oh, but the still think Georgia is the Dog’s meow. Georgia will be lucky to start the season in the top 8.

Not just them but Burton Burns, Joe Pendry, and Scott Cochran* were three of the biggest losses over his tenure.

*I still believe Cochran needed to go from the weight room for the health of our players, but I think we definitely lost some of our killer instinct when he left.
Yeah, Smart did us a huge favor in that regard!

Just leaving this here, let's see how accurate come November/December.
I’m sorry but this kind of stuff simply can’t be allowed. By no metric should Iowa State, Oklahoma, Illinois, Boise State, or freaking TULANE be rated above Bama. Absolute lunacy on display.

Also, having that much of a gap between LSU and Bama shows his outright homerism. This is a team we have OWNED for over a decade.

He's the media guy who is the easiest of them all to ignore IMO. I mean, had this not been posted here, I would not know anything he's done or said in a long time.

I honestly think his bias against Bama is so strong that he's deceived himself into thinking those types of teams should be more highly ranked than Bama.

Yeah, biggest homer of any "media name" that I've ever seen. Just ignore him. He knows nothing.

More like ~65 years. 42-20. Throw out the 12 year stretch when Alabama was on probation or heavily influenced by it, Alabama is 39-11. Made LSU look almost like Vanderbilt, except that many of the games were close. This has been in LSU’s heyday. To your point: 12 of 14 and 14 of 18.

Dukes and Bell hate everything Alabama. They are uga homers. How they are popular is beyond me and their beer sucks.

Bama is a has-been that had success only because of Saban until it proves otherwise. I’m here either way. But if the team doesn’t like that opinion of them then go out and set the record straight. Let’s roll.

You need to read the quote from DeBoer on quarterback play this season compared to last.
