Click on "Original Story." He later says his visit went well. It just started off bad.
So I won't put too much into this. Maybe Trooper made him an offer to make things better :)

I feel...I dunno... kind of soiled...visiting that site. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the info. I'ts just kind of...alien...visiting a site with so much *u stuff on it.

The young man is obviously quite perceptive though. I think many of us have wondered about what 'attraction' the vilage on the plains has, to entice some really great football players (over the years), to forsake so many other venues to display their talents. I'm sure the suggestion that 'money' might be involved could have something to do with it. But until that's confirmed, we must be content that it's the moniker of 'loveliest village on the plains', that draws them in. Riiiiiight. Roll Tide, Roll!

I don't know... I've always been in the camp, "If you're a guest somewhere... be gracious and polite, even if the place really does suck." Anthony Bourdain calls it the "grandma" rule. Now when you get home... feel free to speak your mind and such, but not when you are still actually there.

On the flip side, I doubt many of us would be calling a recruit perceptive and such if they were in Tuscaloosa and tweeted "This place sucks".

If I had been a five star recruit, I'd have played at Alabama. I'd have been a Perkins recruit who finished under Curry, but I'd still have been in Crimson.

That being said, I'd still have taken an official visit to Barnville. Partly just to see how life is down there and partly to make them waste an official visit on someone with no intention of going there.

I agree with that.
And I can appreciate your being fair-minded to *u. Commendable.
The kid is maybe being too quick to render a first impression opinion. I may have thought the same thing the first time I visited that area. You may have thought that it is the loveliest village on the plains. And that's cool. Still, I agree with his perception of his first impression. Have a great day. Roll Tide, Roll!

I might say such in private company, but in my mind, it's nothing to tweet home about. It's quite "unprofessional" for a recruit...at least, that's what the Auburn faithful should think.

To be fair, compared to Alpharetta, Auburn must appear to really suck. I live about 10 miles north of Alpharetta and it is a relatively affluent area with a lot of nice homes. If you are from Alpharetta and then you go down to Auburn for a visit, it must seem like you are really in the backwoods. I've spent a good bit of time in Auburn (have relatives that live there) and it's really not a bad place, just extremely boring because there's nothing to do there, not to mention it's pretty isolated.

I don't understand the fascination with auburn...
It is kinda like a train wreck or a bridge collapse ..... everyone wants to gawk and point at it.

I suppose a great many visitors to my home town would say it sucked and is boring and so on. But, I like it here and intend to stay. That being said, if I lived within the Barn city limit I wold move as soon as I could find a moving van. ROLL TIDE.

I liked how he addressed his "clarification" to the "mean people" on twitter. He sounds like a five year-old which means he'll probably be a great addition to their university.

Since THE OSU is now giving iPads to their student-athletes, it's a good bet that the barn may give out free coloring books and the 64-color boxes of Crayolas.
