He's much faster than Palmer ever thought about being, but one thing which pops out from the film and that is that his balance is definitely Palmeresque. One shot doesn't put him on the ground unless they wrap up, preferably with a partner or two...

The bowl game against Colorado was maybe the greatest exhibition of athletic talent that I have ever seen. On one play Palmer took the snap from the QB position and was immediately (and I mean like our Oline was not even on the field) surrounded by 4 Colorado players, all no further than one to two steps from him. Palmer steps back, spins, and slips through up the middle for a 20 yard gain. There may never be another like him.
Just like the UcheaT game in '93 when he lined up under Center for the snap and everyone in Legion Field knew he was going to run with the ball and yet he STILL beat everyone to the corner.

Watching him in high school was like playing the Playstation with a made up player at all 99's:biggrin2:

Was at the game and to watch the UT fans in the LF endzone deflate after he ran the 2 point conversion in the for the tie was slightly better than kissing your sister.

Everybody in the stadium knew he was getting the snap BUT he did get a nice block on the conversion attempt.

I guess that was the only time I every saw a game the ended in a tie.

Palmer made so many plays for us that look like the HS highlights you see on Youtube now. In HS, it's common to see guys run around, make several guys miss and get to the corner for a big gain. In college you almost never see it because it's hard to make one guy miss, let alone 2. It was a given Palmer would juke out the 1st guy and he usually got by the second. He often made 3 or 4 people miss which is exceedingly rare. In close quarters he's the best I've ever seen and probably ever will.

Hill looks like a good player. It's doubtful he will have the moves Palmer did in tight space, but he can cut well, has good hands and elite breakaway speed that Palmer lacked. He could be a weapon returning kicks or in the slot. But if we get him, I'll take the safe bet and say he won't be the next Palmer. I doubt we are ever going to see another David Palmer, but I'd love to be wrong.

I would take the next Javy and be ecstatic! I agree we may never see another Palmer. The guy had moves I had never seen and have yet to see since.

Yep same here. Was only the 2nd game I ever went to and it got kinda crazy at the end. I was only 13 then and some woman grabbed me from behind and hugged me, had no clue who she was.....lol. I'm remember it raining cups from the upper deck too.

I just hope Hill has half the moves of Javy or Palmer.

He named Florida State his leader after his visit to Tallahassee. He said it was "more fun". We generally don't do well with those looking for "fun".
We'll see if that is just the typical post-visit high that a lot of prospects have, or if he is really intending to sign with Florida State. You are right, though, we don't sign too many kids looking for "fun," and the few that we do typically are in-and-out of Tuscaloosa on short notice.

that's funny. after the Alabama visit, it was " the best time of my Life" comment . :rolleye2:
Well, that's why I said what I did. A lot of these kids are just living from one moment to the next, so we'll see where he really stands in the next few weeks.

I'm wondering what kind of "fun" FSU threw at him that made it "more fun". I'm wondering if it was similar to the Barn's type of fun they had when Trooper was down there that involved dancing women and such.

I never read too much into post visit statements. Sure, wish he'd named Alabama his leader but IF he has some good advisers looking at for his career he won't take a Bama offer lightly.

I love it when recruits talk about Bama coaches being all business and how they like that. Those are the kids who like competition and are most willing to put in the work to make themselves better. Hopefully this young man will see he can come here, work hard and still have fun doing it.
