Opinions on Eli and the crew?

I like Eli myself...I'm not real nit-picky. He's all I've ever known as the Voice of Bama Football...I've never really complained about the job he's done.

I have not listened to the CTSN game call but I have listened to their pre-game show and the post game show and they are just not the same without the Snake. I agree Eli and the rotating color guys are not working. I would love to see Jay Barker be given a chance next season.

I really like Eli's vocal quality. My biggest complaint is his lack of spotting the ball. As other posters have noted, he often doesn't tell you where the ball is. An announcer should do this on every play. Perhaps, Eli can make a note to spot the ball before every play. It's not that hard and even if he can't get it spotted by the Bama crew the Scoreboard at the game will show "Ball on" and he could get it from there.

I used to listen to Eli in the stadium. You would sometimes wonder if he was even watching the same game.

I am glad he gave up the Bama Basketball play by play. As bad as he is at football, he was even worse at basketball.

I never had a problem keeping up with a game done by John Forney. I listened to a lot of his games from a dove field or a fishing boat and I'd say that he might have done too good of a job of drawing you into the game. I know for a fact that there were a lot of doves that owed their longevity to just about everybody in a dove field paying more attention to Forney's broadcast than they were to the doves flying by.

Man that brings back memories. I spend the entire second half of the seventies listening to Bama football from dove fields all over southwest Alabama. Nothing like a crisp fall afternoon shooting doves and hearing the Tide Roll, (as they always did in those days).
