*** OT Arie Kouandjio Commits to Alabama ***

It was the big FB, Marvin Brown, from the 80's. I knew the others mentioned were from Maryland, but I didn't know they were DeMatha Catholic alum. That's a powerhouse program. I think they have a good number who will be signing Div I LOIs tomorrow.

Anyone know if Marvin is still around T'town? I used to see him around town on gamedays several years ago.

Must be a different Marvin Brown you're thinking of. He was here from the late 90s-early 00s

So, brother Cyrus will be a stud in the 2011 class. Aren't there other top flight teammates at DeMatha in the 2011 and/or 2012 classes? Any details on the others?

Richard Webb is in the 2012 crop, I believe. He'll be another top notch OL for DeMatha. One would have to give Alabama the inside to landing his services as well, with potentially two former teammates already Alabama.

Alabama has actually had success in the past in signing players from DeMatha. Danny Martz, Waine Bacon (walk-on, turned starter), and another that escapes me.

I was wrong on Waine Bacon. After looking over the 1999 roster, he was from Forrestville, Maryland, and attended Bishop McNamara. Gerald Dixon was from Burtonsville, Maryland, and attended Paint Branch.

You gotta love the timing of this also. Announced within about 10 minutes of Lattimore spurning the barn.

Arie is going to be so much better than Keenan was going to be. Arie>>>>Keenan.

I am so over KA. If he doesnt want to be here, I dont want him here. Hope he and his family have fun in the PAC 10, and enjoy the high tax/expensive cost of living in California(boy are they in for a surprise). Being the top stud horse on campus and doing what Mommy wants was obviously more important to him than winning championships and getting ready for the NFL.

Arie, you made a wise decision! Work hard and follow Coach Pendry's lead and you'll be playing on sundays after 3 yrs.

ANDREW BONE: Arie Kouandjio Picks Bama | TideSports.com
Kouandjio selected Alabama over scholarship offers from Southern Cal, New Mexico, Maryland and Cal. He committed to Alabama Monday, but went public Tuesday night.

"Throughout the whole process I did a lot of studying. It came down to Alabama, USC and New Mexico," said Kouandjio. "Then it came down to USC and Alabama. Alabama won with the distance factor."
