OT Cyrus Kouandjio Updates

I do see a negative of the parents not going on the trip... Cyrus might have gotten pre$$ured by the Barners.

Can we please stop with this? The Kouandjio's are first class individuals, and have a very successful family. Heck, he has a brother at Bama. Cyrus wouldn't risk his entire career for money, he's class.

Ok. I'll stop taking shots at AU. BTW how do you know all of the stuff about Cyrus? Do you know the family or are you just assuming?

Haha, man take all of the shots at AU you want, I just don't want any family members to get the wrong idea about our opinion of them. Auburn sucks :).

i might question if its a huge need, however there is an opportunity for immediate playing time for the right athelete. Cyrus could be that athelete, but its not like we are dying for talent on the line.

I have to agree. The only thing that makes it a major loss is that he's such a big time talent that doesn't come around too often, and we already had his older brother which gives us an advantage.

Even though there isn't a huge need in the LT position, how great would it be to have a player that could lock down that position for 3 years straight, barring injuries? Andre Smith did that for us and I think Cyrus could do that for us after a redshirt year.

Tackles are a big need in this class. Otherwise adding a JUCO OT wouldn't have been neccessary. We've recruited lights out at OG and center, but we've missed on some good tackle prospects in previous classes. Then you have the matter of some guys not making their way onto the field that we've signed at the position in previous classes. With Carpenter graduating, McCullough entering his senior year, and Tyler Love's junior year on the horizon, meeting needs at OT was imporant in this class. But, when you're talking about a guy with Cyrus Kouandjio's talent level, depth or talent already on the roster is a moot point. He's going to play regardless.

I think Cyrus ends up at UA no matter how the Barners try to spin it. But the fact is whether you like the Barn or not if he goes there he would probably break the rotation from the start. They lost their OL this year and most of the players competing for those spots will either be sophmores or incoming freshman. So I can see the appeal for a player like Cyrus who sees an early opportunity there. More so than at UA. Not to mention they just came off a NC and they play in the SEC. Auburn right now can sell itself by name and opportunity without any negative recruiting needing to be done regarding Cyrus. I say that because following Arie's recruitment last year and the few times I have seen Cyrus interveiwed the family seems very smart in their approach. I also think CNS and staff understand that and approached it with him why they want him at UA and hopefully he will decide for us. It is great his brother is here but I do not want that to be the main reason. I want it to be to play for UA.

I don't know a thing about CK's intentions. I also know the Smith brothers split between the Barn and Bama. But I will be shocked if CK signs with the Barn or Iowa and here's why.

It seems from all I've read about his family that they are not only very intelligent, but they also seem very close. For this reason alone, I would think that they wouldn't want Cyrus and Arie to play on different teams because both of his parents can't be in two places at one time on Saturdays in the fall. Can you imagine the torture of trying to figure out which son you were going to watch play each Saturday. The obvious solution is for both of them to play on the same team. Since Arie already wears Crimson I can't see CK wearing something else.

Good point and you are probably 100% correct.

Some guy on another prominent Bama sight is claiming Cyrus to Auburn . Everyone take note of this - online "sources" are almost always full of it. CK may very well go to Auburn, but I am almost certain that no one close to CK or the family is releasing any information about his recruitment to anyone. So basically, there are no "sources" in Cyrus' recruitment.
