No explaining the officiating gaffes in this game, just terrible.

Clowney'***** one for ages. Sanders continues to excel returning punts, and both USC qbs played well. Fun game.

Can only imagine what Bama D would be like with Clowney added to the mix, at that point it almost wouldn't be fair.

just a rules question, but what dictates a first down measurement. is it the nose of the ball breaking the plane of the nearest edge of the pole? i did a quick search and could not find the answer.

Yes. The inside of the pole creates the 'plane' that must be broken.
