I pine for Manning though. I steadfastly maintain that he's the best QB I've ever seen play. And this is coming from a 49er fan that grew up watching Montana & Young. Just off of the fact that he has so much responsibility/freedom with the offense, it's amazing to watch the guy operate. Whenever I watch him play, I get the feeling that if you could watch a mad scientist draw up plays in the dirt in the back yard, watching Peyton is what it would be like.

I love bringing up the fact that Brett Favre and Peyton Manning have won just as many Super Bowls as Trent Dilfer.

No doubt, but that orange blood he has is hard to forget. I agree he's a ridiculously talented QB, but that doesn't mean I'm going to feel sorry when he comes up short in big game situations. I grew up a Dan Marino fan... I've played that game before.

personally i think brady is the best in todays game, and call me crazy i think if the steelers win ben roethlisberger should be considered number 2. I mean if you look at it manning doen't have the mobility or rings that they have. Granted that Ben has a defense behind him that people could only dream of to back him up and Brady has changed his offense so many times that it just confuses everyone, but in my opinion its harder to get them off their game than manning (look at 05 divisional game and any SD/INDY game from 05 on). I think Manning is a great qb but I think his fame has mostly came because people hate dominant programs (Pittsburgh and NE) and love great players that don't play for historic teams ( like the Kobe/ Lebron conversation)

I like Ben a lot. I think the team is much better with him (obviously), but they do ok without him. Pats without Brady? 11-5. Take Manning away from Indy and...Jim Sorgi? Curtis Painter? Naaaaahhh..I'm sorry. I'm partial to Manning.

cool. it truly is a hard agruement about those three different people have different opinions on Brady,Peyton, and Ben. To me they all are HOF someday, but the big question is if Ben wins 2 (and has one SB MVP) more and Brady wins 1 more (tieing Montana and Bradshaw for most by QBs at 4 sbs) and Peyton retires at one; will Peyton be 3rd best even though by many people today he is best or second best because of his league MVP awards? So what defines elite; rings or MVPs? 1 to 4? Basicly Young and Aikman or Marino and Kelly?

Great question, and that's what makes for great debates. But I'll tell you this. Give me Marino everyday and 6 times on Sunday over Bradshaw or Aikman.
And for all of the accolades that Elway receives today, let's not forget the fact that he won his 2 SBs running on fumes and riding a great Terrell Davis & a SOLID defense. But to me, the rings were just icing. In my eyes he was a top 5 QB in my eyes (my list BTW is Montana, Unitas, Manning, Marino, Elway, with Brady, Kelly, Otto Graham, Sammy Baugh, and Favre rounding out my top 10). I don't really base my list off of rings. Every list I make is based on this one thing: if I had one game to win if my very life depended on it, who would I trust to give the ball to? And in today's game, I trust Manning exponentially more than any other QB, including Brady. Yes, Brady wins a ton of games but how many of those has he leaned on his defense & special teams? Or even his running game. Since a couple of years before James left Indy, at least 90% of Indy's wins have rested solely on the shoulders of Manning from calling plays, to making adjustments, to making plays.

I say the Steelers. That defense is tough. Big Ben is peaking. I do like the Packers never quit attitude also. Could be a classic.

1. the center for GB, Scott Wells, is the brother of a friend at church. So, since I don't care, I'll say GB. BUT, it is tough to say the Steelers won't win this thing. I think this may be one of the better Super Bowls we've seen in quite some time.

2. As far as current QBs, and knowing that a player can't really help who he plays for, I'd say Brady is as good as they come. Hot weather, cold weather, rain, blizzard.....the dude can get it done. Manning has gotten spoiled in the dome, and hasn't shown that he can adjust to inclement weather. BUT, he is by FAR the smartest QB I have EVER seen. I think my Top 5 goes 1. Brady 2. Manning 3. Roethlisberger 4. Brees 5. Rodgers/Rivers

I like Green Bay for four reasons:

1. Teams that spread the field with multiple receivers and formations have figured out ways to beat Pittsburgh. See New England and New Orleans this season.

2. Super Bowl experience is overrated. See Saints vs. Colts; Giants vs. Patriots; Buffalo Bills.

3. Pouncey injury. I know he says that he will play, but I can't imagine that he'll be close to the player he was all season.

4. I think playing indoors on an artificial surface favors what Green Bay likes to do.

Agree on all points. Green Bay is going to spread Pittsburgh out and throw and run on them all game long. The teams you mentioned show it can be done and don't think for one minute that the Packers haven't watched those tapes. Green Bay by 10.

I have been a Packers fan since I was a kid. Had my cheese head on last night watching the game.

Even made it up to their spring traing camp back in the 1990's.
