I will only say "if" we are serously looking at N Devine, then why not P Lazear. They both are risks, but are they worth it.................maybe!:)
from the outside, both seem to have made attempts in going in the right direction.....but, we really don't know....

I don't think he'll get an offer at this point.....but recruiting is fluid.

The two are different. Lazear has had legal trouble as in run ins with the law. Devine has never been arrested, doesn't drink and doesn't do drugs. It is getting old that Devine keeps getting this bad rap when he has done little to deserve it.

I think if I want to get one more LB, I would press Earl Patin or Chris Walker.

I won't try to tell Coach Saban who to offer or not. I do think if a coach runs a tight ship you can give a player a chance.
Thats a big difference I see between Saban and Shula. Saban may be man enough to keep kids in line.
I always want a kid with good character, excellent grades and breakaway speed. They don't always go hand in hand.

I don't know the kid personally, but it seems to me that your argument simply regurgitated that Sporting News article. Again, I don't know him, but I just don't see how there could be so many negative articles written about him and there not be some truth to it. He definitely has a bad rep and usually that is earned, not simply bestowed.

I think he is Diddy's anyway.

What articles are there that say that he has done anything illegal or has one drugs or drank? Has he made some wrong decisions? Yes, but he has not done anything that has harmed anyone else. I believe that the only real negative is being a teen father and having been in a fight. Well, he is taking care of his kids which is more than many adults and who hasn't been in a fight in high school? I know that I had my share.

while reading the terptown board, it was discussed how he had been found guilty of a crime, served a few days in jail, and given probation for a year i believe. at the time believed to be a lock for west va.

With our recent past at the Capstone regarding discipline, I am not certain I want PL here. Someone needs to give the kid and chance... and as RTO says, he's making some strides in the right direction. However, with that said, I am hesistant to bring him onto our team right now... our discipline problems from the past few years are going to continue to be in the process of "weeding out" when he hits T-town. When you're trying to get rid of the problems, bringing in any player who might add to that situation may be unwise.

Now... if we're two years into the Saban area, I feel differently. After a few years of relatively few disciplinary problems and model campers being the norm in the clubhouse, a risk like PL wouldn't be as big of a thing IMO. FWIW, I am hopeful that he gets his chance... and takes full advantage of it.

I agree some people are labeling Devine as something he is not! Some baggage yes but drugs and jail time are not on his record. I don't see how some can put Devine in the same class with Pat Lazear:conf2:

I understand where you are coming from. I also think you know where I am coming from. Do some more research is all I'm saying.
I had my share of all the above and I'm a very good person, but I also never had a rep like that either. It had to have come from somewhere. I'm sure the truth probably lies somewhere in between.

He had a conviction for stealing a credit card and charging some shoes and then he was arrested for armed robbery of a Smoothie King and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. His last conviction was ultimately for a misdemeanor with a few days of incarceration and an ankle bracelet that he even had to wear on the field while playing. And supposedly we did visit him recently. I got this from the DC papers using google.

I think OSU dropped his scholarship.... I mean, come on.. if they drop your scholly, then you must have issues.
Yep,he has got issues, but so does Noel Devine. I say if one is OK then both are OK. I just want people to be consistant. I know kids make bad decisions, and some turn it around. IMO,if CNS can handle him and turn him so be it. However,if CNS decides he can't then OK too.I hold a open mind on it. to be honest, what is different in this and C Keys. The old staff took a chance, but I feel it was the old staffs lack of control that doomed it.

I find it hard to compare having been arrested two times vs. fathering two children the same.
