I hope that's true.I love him saying they went almost junction boys on them during the offseason.
It's all about the OL and DL. If the OL plays well, the RBs will look like 5* studs and TS will have a great year. If the DL can stuff the run and get pressure on the QB, the defense will be stellar.Good stuff...gonna be a good year if the OL (and RBs) and DL develop.
I'm more worried about the DL than the OL. Hopefully we see a couple of DL step up instead of just being meat shields for the LB's.It's all about the OL and DL. Funny, I'm in the exact opposite boat. I'm way more worried about the OL. I think we have at worst a good DL but could see the DL being elite if a few guys make jumps. Chance to be very good to elite IMO.I'm more worried about the DL than the OL. Hopefully we see a couple of DL step up instead of just being meat shields for the LB's.
I think we are set at LT - Proctor.....C - Brailsford.....one guard spot - Roberts. The other two spots are the questions.Funny, I'm in the exact opposite boat. I'm way more worried about the OL. OL I think best case scenario it's going to be just a good OL. Would be very surprised if it becomes an elite one.
Keenan is a good player even if he's not a disruptor. James Smith former 5 star who seemed to be coming on late last year and looked good vs Michigan. Hill has been talked about a bit but Jeremiah Beamen has received a lot of positive reviews this spring. And then we got that JUCO guy who idk how good he is but he is apparently an athletic freak.I think we are set at LT - Proctor.....C - Brailsford.....one guard spot - Roberts. DL - I'm guessing Keenan is pretty much set inside. Jess mentioned Edric Hill, hopefully he steps up. But do we have anyone that gives anyone the idea that they might be disruptive in the middle or a couple of guys that will keep us from getting gashed up the middle?
DL is so hard to recruit for......did we pick up anyone in the portal that has any experience? Do we have any entering the portal tomorrow?
I'd love to have a no name unit that plays with a bad attitude....but then I think what happens if one guy stands out and decides he wants a payday so he holds out before a game in November.
Agreed on the OL not having massive upside. We are also 1 injury away from having problems that would be very difficult to overcome on the OL.Keenan is a good player even if he's not a disruptor. Then at Bandit I have to think Overton is going to make a jump, dude was so close to having a huge year from a sack perspective all he needs to do is learn to finish a bit better and we could be looking at a star.
Really I think if Smith and Overton make jumps we should be really good upfront at worst. Even if they don't make huge jumps I don't think we will be bad.
I could see our OL being rough if we don't figure out RT. That's really my biggest concern there. But I also don't see massive upside on the OL to be truly elite. I would love to be wrong about this though
I'm with you. Think the OL will benefit significantly from continuity + other upgrades in the system. "Can the D get off the field when our offense isn't clicking?" is a legitimate questionI'm more worried about the DL than the OL. Hopefully we see a couple of DL step up instead of just being meat shields for the LB's.
DL will be good and deep. In addition to Keenan, Smith, Overton and Latham, there has been glowing comments about Edrick Hill, Jeremiah Beaman, Keon Keeley and Jordan Renaud.I'm more worried about the DL than the OL. OL is very much my concern. With the DL, you can have an assignment bust and still make a play. You have an assignment bust ANYWHERE on the OL and it more times than not gets the entire play stuffed. That happened to us more times than I care to remember last season. All it takes is ONE OL'man not doing his job and it can wreck the entire play.DL will be good and deep. In addition to Keenan, Smith, Overton and Latham, there has been glowing comments about Edrick Hill, Jeremiah Beaman, Keon Keeley and Jordan Renaud.
OL is definitely a higher concern for me. Replacing Booker at LG won't be easy and while I am hopeful Formby can get the job done at RT it remains to be seen.
