I knew it...I knew it...I knew it...dadgumit. I knew some "political" statement was going to made with this year's award. I really don't know how anyone could not vote for Saban given the state of the program when he came on board and what he was able to do in 3 short years.

I hate to say this--but it appears that the Bryant Award is now subject to and tainted by political correctness. And, friends, that is very sad.

This is nothing more than a 'sympathy vote' for Boise being the lone undefeated major university in the polls besides us and response to that idiot senator Orin Hatch demanding that BSU players be 'invited' to the white house along with our guys because they went undefeated. I know Boise has upgraded their schedule somewhat, but they still dont play anybody compared to who we play week in and week out in the SEC. No offense to the Bryant family( I know they don't cast the votes), but this award lost a lot--no, ALL-- of its luster in my mind tonight. This will be the last time I care who won it or support any charities or organizations with my dollars that are associated with it...

I agree. I'm a little perturbed about this. Especially since Peterson won it just a couple of years ago. I wonder if his dealing with the "Lagarrett Blount" situation put him over the top.
How can you not give it to a coach who took a 7-6 team to National Championship in 3 years. Go undefeated in the SEC. Beat the reigning Nat. Champion and #1 team in UF. Beat the # 2 team, Texas. Go through injuries, suspensions, and 14 games and not give it to Saban???
I'm sure Peterson has done a great job, but he inherited a good team, easy schedule, and no major obstacles to overcome. i don't understand how they base their decision.:eek:

I have to say I'm a little surprised. Saban goes 14-0 playing an SEC schedule, wins the national championship, coaches a Heisman winner, a Butkus winner all in the same season and how many teams were ranked when Alabama beat them? And how many top 10 teams did Alabama beat? What a rip-off!!! :mad2:

Peterson won it in 2006 and not to take anything from what he's done at Boisie State, but they did not exactly play a grueling schedule. This is crap!!!

Earth to Mr. Petersen,

If you're any kind of man and competitor, the Tennesse job is open. Why don't you come down here and play with the big boys and let's see what kind of coach you REALLY are, instead of satisfied with just being the big kid on the playground in.... Idaho?
