first he overthrows a wide open TP in the zone
CMS told SP to run the same play and he throws it out of bounds.

I've kept my comments on this subject to myself in lieu of the rules about bashing players but Spence has that deer in the headlights look and just flat out chokes on occasion. He didn't have any help from the running game but nevertheless, when the chips are down, great players make the plays. He had time to eat his lunch most of the time. It wasn't like he was under a great deal of pressure all day. Still he couldn't check off the receivers and many times went to the covered guy instead of the wide open man. JMHO

For the sake of

IMO there is no need to get on Spencer.....he is the 3rd string QB,and may not even make the 3 deep chart next year when JPW gets in the mix! I believe he is playing at about the best level he can according to his ability. The problem today was we were not ready to play smash mouth football on either side of the line. Blame whom you want but please leave the 3rd string QB out. Also,I think we need to quit making excuses and play harder with more of a mad on!Football is an aggressive game played within a borderline of a kill or be killed attitude. I just want to see us get that attitude back!

As I said in another thread, Spencer was a better passer before the injury to his throwing shoulder. These are just young college kids, not experienced pros, he is the best we have right now, and he is showing lots of heart to come back after the serious injury to contribute to the team. Spencer tried, and if he had hit on just a couple of more passes, he would have been a hero. I say good effort, and thanks, Spencer for being there when The Crimson Tide needed you!

Spencer may have missed a few passes, but he made many good ones too. Hell, considering he was running for his life most of the game because the line wasn't blocking and he had no backfield to help him, I thought he did a helluva job.

Great job Spence! Don't let these dolts get you down.

These were SP's #'s on the day. I read this on another thread and thought there was no way that was correct. It sure seemed a lot worse. He made some terrible throws in the 3rd quarter on 3rd and short. Short throws to open receivers and he threw them at their feet. looked like he wasn't throwing it. looked like he was tring to aim it in there. 7 or 8 of those completions were quick throws and the WR's broke some tackles. He did make a good deep throw to Brown that I thought he could have caught. He didn't even put his hands up. I was really disappointed in his preformance. I thought with 4 weeks to prepare that SP would have a huge day. Also SP is not the 3rd string QB. He is the 1 st string qb. He has been for about 12 weeks now and hasn't got much better. I read were he was playing baseball this spring. Does he pitch? If so ,God knows i wouldn't get in the batters box to face him.

AGAIN I ask, since no one ever answers. HOW MANY SEC starts do you have as a QB?

Everyone likes bashign the guy, get out there strap a helemt on and lets see if you do any better.

Guess you should be recruiting and coaching QB's since you guys are obviously QB guru's.

I have the same amount of starts at QB as schollarship offers i got to play QB in the SEC. NONE!!!!!!!! How many sacks did he take when he could have threw the ball away this year? How many short out throws did he miss this year? How many fumbles? And he still looks like hes carring a loaf of bread. With him being the only healty QB left why does he run with the ball instead of throwing it away?

I'm not "bashign" the guy just his QB'ing skills. I like his "fire" on the field he just needs to put that on the ball on those short out passes that he throws at the WR feet.

But all this has been brought up ad nauseam so why keep bringing it up? If there was a better option it would be on the field. We need to stop bringing up the obvious every hour.

Spencer may have that 'deer in headlights' look on the field, but I prefer that to the 'under the wheels of said car' look that our Defense and running game had agains Minn.

Spencer and the WR's were the only ones playing football. How any of you were underwhelmed by Spencer is beyond me. How any of you had any expectations of grandness from a 3rd string QB who has never, ever, ever shown anything but flashes of mediocrity is astounding. What happened in the last few weeks? Were you suddenly expecting super-Spencer to emerge from the coccoon of average-ness that he's wallowed in the whole season?

Where's the shock that our Defense totally took the day off? Where's the shock that our running game (our bread and butter) was horrible?

Why all the pointing at Spencer?

I think a lot of people understand that Spencer is our 3rd string quarterback, but do not understand what that actually means. Guys, he's 3rd string for a reason. He does not have the talent and ability that someone like Brodie has. You cannot expect him to perform at that level. I believe he is giving all that he can to help us win.

He makes mistakes under pressure. He doesn't throw great passes. He didn't ask to be thrown to the wolves with all of this responsibility. He's our starting QB because other players are hurt.

I get frustrated with him also. But if you believe he doesn't care/want to win then you are insane.

I know I got frustrated during the game...

and said some things that I should not have said, but now I remember that Spencer wanted to come to Alabama. His big brother, Jeremy played offensive line in the 1990's. I remember how I got my brother to transfer to Bama after I graduated. And I know that Spencer is doing his absolute best out there and has greatly improved since the start of the season. So, I am satisfied and ready to move on to next year. PLEASE!!!
