I agree that hitting has tailed off as the season has gone on. BUT…..it’s been against SEC pitching, so some of that is to be expected.
Even though we’re only middle of the pack in the SEC (Batting Average), we’re light years ahead of last year’s hitting performance. Third in HRs, fourth in Triples. Not so great on Doubles.
Still, last year we were in the bottom three in just about every measure of batting, and dead-stinkin’-last several of them.
Some context: Six of the Top 10 in the NCAA softball standings are in the SEC. Of the five that aren’t us, we won series against three, lost a series to UTe 2-1 in Knoxville, and didn’t play Oklahoma.
We’re battle-tested. Might not have the bats to win it all, but we should make it to Oklahoma City and do well there.
