Now that is a great photo.....look at that boy!My wife and I had always had at least one dog most all of our 40 years of marriage. We lost Bear at age 12 in January of 2022 to bladder cancer and Kelso at age 14 to tracheal paralysis about 6 months later. With my in-laws living with us since March of 2020, it would not be wise to induce a puppy in a home with two 90+ year olds, one in a wheelchair and the other on a walker.
My FIL passed in April and my MIL now lives with my wife’s sister. So three weeks ago we “took the plunge” and adopted a rescue pup.
So meet my boy, Elroy!
13 weeks old
20 lbs
14.5 inches in height

Lord, Lab and Aussie--that's a hyper combination.
Yep Elroy is 14 weeks and 22 lbs. now and has the bounding, bouncing thing down to a science.Lord, Lab and Aussie--that's a hyper combination. An old neighbor of ours got a purebred Aussie pup. She brought it into the front yard--it saw me, and I swear to god, bounced across the lawn to say hi.
Barney is mainly Assie and pit bull. He's a rescue dog as well. Came from a very bad situation.

When he's calm, he just wants to be the bestest dog ever. When he gets excited, it's like he drops down to one functioning brain cell and he starts bouncing all over the place.
When I let him out to pee, all he does is go to the side of the house, pee, and come back. But he bounds, bounces, and tears around like he's having the time of his life.
Barney may be part goat; he wolfs down anything he thinks might be food. Hell, we have to keep the garbage can in the laundry room to keep him from getting into it.@jthomas666 quick question for you. How is Barney on eating? This dog is a “grazer”. Elroy eats but it is one continuous meal from 6 am to 8 pm. He’ll nibble from 6 am to about 1 pm on his morning food until he finishes. Then I’ll give him his afternoon food at about 3 pm. He’ll graze on it until it’s gone about 8 pm.
Funny thing is this dog is not motivated by food or treats. He seems much more motivated by praise than a “treat” as a reward.
Just wonder if this is an Aussie trait kind of thing.
