Can't for the life of me figure out wh anyone on a Bama board wants to defend a manning? If there's ever been a ut player for us to hate to hate it's him. I hope he cheated and is stripped of everything. Never liked him never will.

Human Growth Hormone. Let's say he did use that to help in recovery from neck fusion in his late 30's, and the league was not testing for it. It helped him heal and he got back on the field the next season. Is that cheating? That looks to be the worst it can be, HGH in 2011 in association with major surgery. I think tying this to some sinister "Dark Side" is ridiculous. I think this will backfire on Al Jazeera and a lawsuit is on the way. Their source is flimsy it seems, and it they cannot back this up, they are in trouble imo.

Yes as a Bama fan...

I'll defend Peyton Manning. Great competitor who will go down as one of the top 5 quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL. Good conservative dude who now will have to be subjected to all sorts of crap by the frauds and liars in media. Geez respect him for what he has meant to the SEC.

I think my stance on this has been made clear here over the years with my vehement defense of Barry Bonds. This is a non-story. In street clothes, Peyton looks like he should be doing someone's taxes (no offense to the accountants on the board). And the same as I said for Bonds, take away every single stat from AFTER he allegedly took the HGH, and he's still not only a 1st ballot hall of famer, but one of the top 3-5 QBs to ever play the game

I've been on this board for about 20 years. I was here when Manning was at Tennessee. He was a great QB then, and he's one of the greatest ever to play in the NFL. What does "liking" him have to do with that?

Yup..I remember The 90's "Homerun Arms Race" each year between Bonds & McGwire that in the eyes of history will be remembered as "The 'Roid Homerun Race"..You can literally go back looking at Bonds & McGwires team photo & you can see when the 'Roid use started with each one..Their forearms looked like Mr Universe's forearms in the height of their 'Roid use..

Everyone knew it was happening but baseball really suffered from that 1994 strike year which ended the season shortly before the playoffs and shortened 1995 season. So the journalists, who had a real livelihood risk in a weak baseball market, ignored it and instead glorified the rise of nearly inhuman power hitters. The owners and other front office employees clearly didn't mind it because homers put butts in the seats and eyes on the TV sets.

The market turned around and the baseball journalists got a bit more confident about asking the hard questions again. I guess that is why I've always had a kind of "whatever" attitude with the PED controversies in pro sports. They only seem to come up whenever the circumstances turn against the offenders. Lance Armstrong gets outed after he made a bunch of people a ton of money. Roiding hitters only get outed after they saved their sport from the strike blowback. Peyton Manning gets outed when he's about to retire and all these advertisers want to execute the morality clause in their contracts with him? Yeah, that's probably it.

Putting my personal opinion of Manning aside, all 3 of them for that matter, how is this thread allowed to continue? Multiple times I have read rumors are not allowed on this board, and this doesn't even warrant being a rumor. Pure garbage from an illegitimate source titled as "News Article"??
Now a days anybody with a internet connection can attempt to blow someone away, and it is important that folks with the sense to recognize it not spread it no matter who it is.
Sorry, but this junk could have been about one of "our guys" and how would that sit with you?

Considering this was the main topic on ESPN this morning, it's more than just a rumor.

We're discussing a published story from a reputable source. How reputable the source's sources are is another story entirely. But this isn't someone coming on saying "my uncle Rico is dating Coach Saban's secretary's sister, and he said she said she heard Coach & Miss Terry arguing over which weather channel to watch"

You are discussing a lie that everyone now recognizes as such, except those who wish it were true.

Anyone can say anything without a shred of proof and damage a person's life. The only legs this story has is that the author is likely to be sued.

I'm sure Peyton did this and I bet Favre was doing them, as well, in his later years. It's big money, boys and many will cheat. To think otheriwse is just naive.

Notify the media. I have a source who knows that Favre took PEDs.
