PLEASE help

and pray for a good friend of mine that ended up where any of us could have at anytime.

She hydroplaned on Saturday morning and rolled her truck.. right now shes on a vent and the prognosis is not good. The neuro thinks paralysis is certain, the degree is unknown.

Well I want her on her feet and laughing so I'm asking you all to pray for her- Pray to give her strength, patience and that when the swelling goes down... mobility.

I just came back from seeing her (they transported her to our hospital yesturday) I'm in shock, but I had to come ask for prayers, so please say a prayer for Debbie, and thank God for allowing her accident to be witnessed. If not, she might not be with us today.

Update:

They took her into surgery 40 minutes ago. This surgery was scheduled for Friday so I'm hoping it's a positive they moved it up-

They said she hyperextended the ligaments in her neck and fractured C-17. Though this surgery will not make a difference to her lower extremities it will return strength to her neck and could ease her breathing.

She's out of vacation time and has little insurance outside her employer paid health insurance and minimal short term disability. My concerns are now extending beyond surgery as I know Rehab will not be cheap nor covered by her insurance, and her financial worries may impede her progress. Looking into options now.. will update when I know more.

Keep the prayers going, she's not out of the woods yet.

Debbie is in our prayers and I have contacted a few prayer warriors from my church also to pray for her. Most of the time the hospitals and rehab centers will help with the bill if she can pay something a month even if its only $5.00 a month. She is being prayed for and will continue! Keep us updated and let her know she has people all over praying for her and a fast and full recovery! God bless!!!

Stephanie

Well she's been moved to rehab in Georgia and things are starting to look up. She's in denial over the paralysis but I can understand. The good news is shes off the ventilator and sitting up!! She's lucid and understands everything. Her left hand is still having trouble and there's still no feeling or movement in her lower body but there is progress and I'm so thnka ful for all your prayers.

She still has a long road to travel so please continue to keep warm thoughts of her and on behalf of her and her family thank you!

Thanks for the update Shari. Please email or post an address where we can send a card or note for Debbie. Tell her to remember tht ALL things are possible with the Lord's help and that we are praying for her speedy recovery.
God Bless

Update- All has been going well in her physical therapy. Even though they had discovered her paralysis has also affected her torso, she is moving forward in therapy. She does need assistance (24 hour care) and still requires a feeding tube because she can't swallow - YET... I'm not giving up hope!!

As with everything else it seems we level out in one area and another problem crops up. Today was one of those days. Deb's been moved into isolation. She's developed a serious staph infection and is running a very high temp. The doctors said this will probably set her rehab back another 6-8 weeks. We had hoped to have her back by Christmas. Her mama is driving back up from Atlanta to Pelaski to see about making the changes needed for when Deb comes home. She'll have to live with them while decisions are made about her future. Much will depend on her and how far along she develops.

Please keep praying. I am planning a trip down to see her on the 16th. Our birthdays are 13 hours apart

Ofcourse I'm older, lol. But I promised her the day after her accident I wouldn't celebrate without her and since she can't come to me, I'm going to her. The isolation thing will make my visit a little more constrictive than I was hoping since I can't take anything in with me, but maybe the surprise will be enough.

I have the address at my office and I will post it. I'm sure Debbie would love to hear from you. Just keep it upbeat

We are trying to keep her smiling as much as possible. Though we're not in denial the fact is we're trying to show support not pity or sadness. I'm not sure if Deb has even accepted her circumstances completely yet. She's got a spirit that is unvbelievable and I want to see that spirit soar again.

So, I'll ask you keep her in your prayers and if you see a card that makes you laugh, buy it, and I'll post an address on here in the next few days.

The only thing I can say is thank you. When I think of what happen to Debbie and how it could be me... or anyone of us (with all the traveling to games and such we all do) no matter how hard I try and just can't imagine what she is going through. And I know the prayers help. So thank you.

Deb is someone I respect, like and I consider her a good friend but I'm not her best friend... though when this is all over I plan on making more time to be a better friend.

Thanks for the thoughts though and the prayers. Keep um coming!

Shari, a check will be in the mail soon from me to be used for your friend in any way that you see fit.

God bless. I'm sorry I didn't know about this sooner!

ROLL TIDE FOREVER!

Shari,
So sorry to hear about your friend. We will be praying for her.

This is the first time I have checked out this board. I am very glad it is here.
