When I was still designing schools, I worked on a renovation of a football locker room. The B.O. had seeped into the carpet, ceiling tile, and walls. Opening the door was like getting punched in the face. First of all who the hell puts carpet in a lockrroom? Also, why the first designers didn’t use washable ceiling tile is perplexing. Also, also why wasn't it vented properly?
I'm betting "Low Bid". They seem to go that route and then fix things later when it goes bad. If they would have spent money on the best company/business to start with like you are saying, they wouldn't have all these problems.

Part of the problem with BO, I think, is that a lot of people have moved away from Anti-Perspirants and toward deodorants or "natural" products. Those don't work and you smell like onions at the end of the day. Use anti-perspirant, smell good, and deal with the possible dementia later.

yep. the contractor will convince the client "they don't need it" then we even it goes bad. blames the architect. Typically when they don't we condemn it and they can't sue us.

We've been sold out by our politicians. 90% of grocery store items are poison due to the chemical content (product of big tobacco taking over big food). All the toiletries have been contaminated unless EWG verified. You are better off using rubbing alcohol under your arms rather than any hormone disrupting, aluminum filled deodorants or anti-perspirants. Sunscreens are a sham other than the mineral based ones. Rule of thumb, don't put it on you body if you wouldn't eat it. It is a harsh reality but one worth noting.

This, my wife and daughter went through this phase several years ago until they realized the "natural" deodorant products don't work.
