Possible BCS opponents discussion

Quick breakdown of the top four schools...

KSU - They have the best PLAYER on the list in Klien. He reminds me of Tebow so much, not just in his play...but his leadership ability. The road they have is tougher the ND, but not as tough as either UA or Oregon. I think they do drop one somewhere along the way.

ND - Notre Dame, as much as I dislike them, are a team after my heart. They win by playing tough defense, and Manti Teo is arguably the BEST defensive player in the game. They have a pretty easy schedule remaining. With the fact USC is now a two loss USC (who still has several loseable games themselves like ORegon and UCLA), that win just doesn't hold much clout. Their only HIGH QUALITY win will be OU, which leaves them on the outside unless two other undefeateds lose.

Oregon - I think they are the second best team in the nation right now. The schedule is definetly back loaded, but unless USC shows it's no where near as hard as once thought. The games at Cal, Stanford at home, and playing at Oregon St is a tough slate though...and even if they make it through that (which I have my doubts), they will have the PAC Championship game, which is just another hurdle.

Alabama (just for fun) - Top 5 LSU, top 15 Texas A&M, top 15 UGA (unless the choke, which is possible)... That is a scary prospect for anyone to face, and it shows who has the toughest road to the BCSNCG. The good thing is that LSU and UGA have lost their offenses, and A&M still doesn't have the defensive caliber to play 4 quarters in a TOUGH SEC game imho. That being said, it only takes one bad quarter to sink you...

First off: We've got to win em all just to get there...
Then: We play one of the mentioned teams. Don't matter, because Coach Saban will scheme for that team.
My personal pick would be ND. We owe em one.
We would be facing ND and the media...

I thought Oklahoma would handle ND. last night... Shows what I know...
More to ND than I thought, and less to Ok....

I'm not making reservations till we beat LSU, TAMU and that cupcake in Lee Co.
Not to mention that we will still have to trash Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
Maybe they will have another 'Blackout'... Worked well enough last time we played them. ;)

We've still got too much football to play to worry about who we play for the BCS title.

Wow. Taking a shot at Bama to promote ND? I hope I took it wrong.
You took it wrong, I wasn't taking a shot at Bama at all. Our SEC schedule is hard enough as it is and I think we need those smaller games to rest up. I haven't missed a home game in 14 years regardless of who we are playing.

Really? Why is everyone so in love with Notre Dames SOS? When it's broken down team by team it's really no better than ours. No they aren't playing the Western Carolina's of the world, but they are playing the Purdue's, Air Force's, and Navy's of the world. They play a lot of BCS conference opponents, but the vast majority of them are middle of the road, if not low end teams of their respective conferences. The exceptions are their rivalries with Michigan and USC, and recently their game against Stanford.

To put this into perspective, our common game was Michigan. For some reason, when people talk about our game with UM the discussion is about how overrated Michigan was, and how we still haven't been tested. When they talk about Notre Dame's game against Michigan, it's all about what a tough, hard fought win it was. Truth is, we dominated UM, Notre Dame survived them.

How about Notre Dame's tough game against Oklahoma, that's pretty impressive isn't it? We're playing LSU, who is roughly the same rank, and a much more competitive team than OU.

How about the brutal matchup of USC? USC has already lost 2 games this year to teams with half the talent that they have, and yet they are still viewed as a top opponent for ND? If you go by those standards, that would still make Michigan a top team, since they've lost to 2 top 5 teams this year, yet somehow, USC is given a free pass while UM is dismissed. When it's all said and done, Miss St is actually a fairly comparable team to USC, so I wouldn't give Notre Dame anything over us there either. I would still give USC the head to head advantage over MSU, so I will give a point to Notre Dame, however, USC isn't the powerhouse that the media would have you believe.

How about Stanford? They have a great team with a potent offense, their offense could own Bama's right? Negative, which we will see for a fact when the most comparable team in the SEC comes to BDS In TAMU. Advantage Bama

When you look at the rest of Notre Dame's schedule, it's really not that impressive. Michigan St is their Arkansas, a grossly overrated team who has since tanked. BYU is their Tennessee, a young team with talent, but who is not a serious contendor. Then we have the SEC championship game, and I don't think I even have to say anything to make my point here.

In Summary, no they aren't playing Western Carolina, Western Kentucky, or any of the other FCS equivalent teams, but don't think for a minute that they don't play some cupcakes. However, if they played a real conference schedule instead of a hodgepodge, you'd start to see those FCS opponents making their way into South Bend fairly regularly.

Looks like a loaded schedule to me.

Look guys, you are taking MY OPINON in the wrong way. In MY OPINION, they deserve to play us before KSU or Oregon if they make it through undefeated based on their schedule. I am in no way saying that should go ahead of us :rolleye2:
