Potential final ranking prognostication

This is what happens when you let the “little people” control the CFB world. Arkansas’ president, AD or whatever he is knows nothing about championship football. He has to watch Arkansas week in and week out. Thats why he has to measure quality losses. “Well, looks we’re improving. We only lost by 7 to a ‘good’ SEC team” is their way of life.

Good post. So, what is the answer for we fans in the SEC? Sure, inclusion is good but not when you are talking about the National Champions. At this point, our conference reigns supreme in strength, talented athletes and coaches. We need to have our own invitational tournament and let the rest of the field do what they want. No sense in carrying on this charade any longer.
Well, first the SEC needs a leader that knows what he's doing. Thus far he's been behind on his moves.

They let Alabama's SoS get ignored last year, and did nothing to solve the problem. They got the committee to play lip service to it, they are supposed to be using some sort of calculation, but that seems to be meaningless to them. Rather than see if this change actually did anything, the SEC barrelled forward with a 9th conference game.

Just look at the playoff rankings.

Texas A&M has the highest SoS of any undefeated team. They are ranked third.
Ole Miss with an SoS of 34 sits two spots below Texas Tech with an SoS of 71.
Alabama with an SoS of 6 sits below Notre Dame with an SoS of 27.
Finally, Vanderbilt with an SoS of 25 sits below Utah with an SoS of 52.

I'm just comparing equal records here, what happens when half the SEC picks up another loss once the new SEC schedule starts? Truth is the SEC boxed themselves into a corner as soon as they added Oklahoma and Texas and they weren't thinking far enough ahead to sort this out.

So yes, they might have to do something drastic, otherwise they live in a world where the Big 12, after losing all their best teams, might get 3 teams in or something stupid like that, and the SEC might only get 4. It's dumb, it makes no sense, but it doesn't have to unfortunately.

I do not have any confidence we will win Saturday. The offense has been regressing to the point where we rely almost totally on Bernard, Cuevas and to a lesser extent, Hill. With Cuevas out against a good defense and a couple of dangerous receivers....and no kicking game to fall back on, I just don't see us winning.

Yeah, this is setting up for a shocking upset. THIS game is there Super Bowl.🤔

Gaining bowl eligibility AND knocking us out of the playoffs would be the ultimate way for them to finish the regular season...

If we play like we did against OU, we lose. If we play like we did against uga, we win!😎

Vandy put up 45 on these guys....38 in regulation...if we cant do the same with our weapons then something is off...especially with our guys knowing what is at stake....but I'm still extremely nervous since we've failed to get beyond a two score lead all year it seems
Was that Durkin's first game as interim HC? With him NOT calling the defense, they definitely aren't as stout on defense.

Agreed 100%. We are in a unique position as a team and fans of the team. Alabama has anchored this league to the point of being targeted from other factions within the SEC specifically as it relates to scheduling with multiple teams with by weeks before our game and others with cupcakes lined up for extra practice against us. Beat Alabama and you have done something. The SEC brought in two more heavy weights that not only makes the schedule tougher but also exacerbates our particular problem as the must-win game by conference rivals. So, I think it is up to us fans to continue to hammer this subject ad nauseum because we are really in the best position to do it. That, and the fact that we are among the most knowledgeable fanbases in the sport. Time to evolve into our own playoff invitational and succeed from the nonsense that has become NCAA football.

To your point......We've had a substantial lead on overall program wins amongst our conference rivals. Then we added Texas and Oklahoma.

Alabama - 983
Texas - 969
Oklahoma - 959
Georgia - 902
Tennessee - 883

I just can’t get past this…if we weren’t playing in the SECCG, we’d be in the playoffs guaranteed. This should mean we are in even if we lose the SECCG, but most people say it’s 50/50. I absolutely hate this format, and I don’t trust the committee.
If we play a good game and win we'll get a first round home game, maybe even UGA's spot in the top 4. If we play a good game and lose, we'll be in there somewhere. If we play poorly we likely don't make the cut.

I could see them goobers leaving us out and putting Texas in over us 🤣
Difficult to admit but I believe Texas is a stronger team than Bama at this point in the season. I was impressed with their run game and the fact that their defense held up well against a talented undefeated A&M team that obviously has a QB that is impressive out of the pocket.

I definitely think it’s win in Atlanta or out. Not high enough ranked and won’t move up much if at all based on the AU game to be able to absorb a third loss, regardless as to who it’s to.

It's not 50 50.....if we lose, I have no doubt we are out.
Unfortunately I agree with you. This committee will they treated it like an “elimination game” for us. Alabama loses I think we are out.
Which then begs the following questions:

So last year SMU suffered a third loss in the ACC Championship. Why weren’t they “out”? You said the committee wouldn’t punish a team by playing and losing this extra game. What changed?

So you’re saying that if UGA would have lost they would have been out too?

So from the SEC point of view, if the big thing is to win a national championship, we should eliminate the SECCG, right? Good deal. I’m sure the Mouse House will be real happy with that.

I have little doubt, should lose in a very tight game, they find a way to bounce us.

It depends on if BYU wins the Big 12 title game imo, if they win we can't lose

That was only SMU’s 2nd loss.

They were 11-2 with 2 losses by a combined 6 points

They had a crap SOS but it doesn’t matter with this committee.

They are wishy washy and do not stick to any ambiguous or clear unstated rules or precedents.

They will dump us so fast at 10-3

ESPN might ask why and IF we get an answer it will be as flimsy and moronic as ND bring ahead because of rushing numbers.

Stand corrected

The bottom line is that ND is ranked ahead of Miami, a team they lost to earlier in the year. However the “logic” is that we should be behind Oklahoma because we lost to them? And ND and Miami both will both be eating popcorn next Saturday.
