Potential final ranking prognostication

Random question, but is ole miss worthy of a playoff bid if Lane isn’t coaching them? Could be wild

I’ll try not to assume that. I know some of this is going to seem out of order, but I got bama over UGA in sec championship and them not giving the entire big 10 byes first round

1) Indiana (after beating Ohio state)
2) Ohio state
3) Texas tech
4) Alabama
5) ole miss
6) Georgia
7) Oregon
8) tamu
9) notre dame
10) Oklahoma
11) Virginia (ACC)
12) James Madison

Left out: Texas, Vanderbilt, Miami, BYU

If BYU beats Texas tech then Oklahoma may be out

Obviously, this week’s ranking is huge. I think we stay at 10. No one falls behind us and no one jumps us. That will put us in the position of being in the playoff regardless of the SECCG outcome as long as Texas Tech beats BYU. The committee, no matter what you think of them, does not want to be in the position of punishing teams for playing in a conference championship game.

I think the field is set for the most part. The current 1-8 teams are in. UVA/Duke winner is in, G5 team is in, and the last two spots are either us, ND, or BYU depending on the outcomes of the Big 12 and SEC games.

Duke will not get in if they win. Miami is still in the mix because of their Notre dame win.

I'm waiting for them to talk about our poor quality win at Auburn not being anywhere near Notre Dame's awesome losses... Which won't dim a bit even though TAMU was exposed a bit by Texas after playing a very easy schedule.

There will be a price to pay if they dump the SEC runner up though. And it is ridiculous that we could get bumped for being forced to play an extra game when our team is a MASH unit.

The thought of an 8-5 Duke team bumping us is just durned funny and illustrates how stupid this process is. With the parity of the portal... time to go to a BCS formula again, have human polls and computers in it... Top 16 play. None of this "we have to included little sisters of the poor tech" for fairness.

everyone keeps thinking last year's rules still apply. Autobids are no longer conference winners. It is highest ranked conference winners.

“We” meaning Bama or Georgia? With “dawg” I’m not sure I’m following

Yeah unfortunately I think if we lose vs UGA were gonna be out. I do agree the committee doesnt want to set a precedence that if you lose your conference title game it will hurt you. But they will spin it as "well they shouldn't have lost to FSU" as their reason.

I said last week i'd rather Bama not play in the SECCG because if we sat home like OU, we would be in just like they are going to be. Same conference, same overall record, we make it to Atlanta, lose and were out, they sit home and get in.

Even if we win the SECCG, we arent getting a bye and MIGHT get a 1st round home gam.

Just like the notion of “not penalizing a team for losing in the “extra” conference championship game”. That was a different committee last year. This year we have a whole new group of pinheads.

SO much Bama hate online right now....Miami getting in because they beat Notre Dame, ND in because they only lost by a few points in their games, BYU in because they are 10-1, the rationale and scenarios are hilarious...the worrying one is 7 of 10 ESPN "experts" have us out even before we play next week!!!! I do think, as one person said, if the committee drops us to 11 for no valid reason, they are preparing for us to lose in the SECCG and NOT put us in the playoffs...

That is definitely how they will tip their hand.

There is really no reasoning for any movement based on this weeks results.

A&M is the only Top 15 team that lost but they wouldn’t drop far enough to affect us in any way.

BYU beat UCF to get to 11-1 but why would that justify suddenly jumping us before CG week?

If they do that’s them pushing us into the Bubble to drop us like a bad habit at 10-3.
