If Bama wins on Saturday, I don’t see them finishing any higher/lower than fourth.
Clark…you’re a little early for the Holiday but I’m still going to ask…are you serious? If we lose to Ga, there is absolutely no way a 3-loss team makes the playoff.
For whatever reason, this year there are a multitude of 2 loss teams, period.
I grew up in West Texas & went to Tech. Dallas isn’t exactly a bastion of Tech fans but yeah, they will probably have more fans there than BYU.Tech blew them out the first meeting and is a 13-point favorite in the 2nd rematch. I believe Tech wants to remain the #4 seed in order to get a bye, so they want to win again.
furthermore, the game is in Texas, basically home field advantage
11/12 leaves us home like last year. So, I'm thinking win Saturday 4/5 ranking. Lose, maybe 11/12
So, win. And if we lose, hopefully back to 10th then.. I'm not sure how to interpret the "can't punish a team for playing in a conference Championship game"11/12 leaves us home like last year.
Yep! I think we’re either 5 w/a W or 10 w/an L11/12 leaves us home like last year.
They can be right and still be a joke. The whole committee process is a joke. It's political bull crap, plain and simple. The total lie that they are going to look at strength of schedule is a joke. The idea that undeserving teams are forced into the arena for "fairness" is a joke. Vandy has won ten games in the SEC and deserves to be a top 12 playoff team. It is a joke that they aren't. Our playoff spot should not be debatable. Yes, the playoff committee is a J O K E.The committee doesn’t deserve the “joke” tag tonight. They did the right thing. They put us above ND. Planning to keep us in the playoff unless something crazy happens.
We would arguably have the best win, and we would’ve done it twiceWith a win:
Booger and Joey said 5-6 seed. Greg said 4 seed.
I don’t think Booger and Joey are looking at teams. They just think it’s a big jump. But if we win we aren’t staying below an Oregon or a Georgia or an Ole Miss or an A&M as SEC champs.
As stupid as it was that they justified dropping us due to a lack of a running game, is that they justified moving us ahead of ND in part because of the gutsy 4th and 2 call to get the go ahead score against Auburn. They can be right and still be a joke. So, are you saying that you think we would have fallen that far if the OU loss was our only loss? I can't agree with that thinking. Comparing 8&4 to us is not the same thing due to the albatross of the loss to FSU. I also think our strength of schedule should be heavily factored, but that always turns out to be lip service from the politicians. However, I agree with you that we should have been in front of Notre Dame. From what folks are saying, we are now, so folks should be happy.Bama didn’t fall 6 spots by losing to FSU. The committee was impressed enough with wins over Wisconsin UGA Vanderbilt Missouri and Tennessee and USCe that they were #4 overall. They dropped 6 spots after losing by two points to a ranked two loss Oklahoma. TAMU as well had played among the weakest schedule in the conference, and were basically exposed by Texas last Friday.
My point being is that Bama, after the loss to Oklahoma, all things being considered should have been no worse than #9 and ahead of Notre Dame.
I agree. If everyone would stop watching all of the talk shows about college football, they might start to listen. As stupid as it was that they justified dropping us due to a lack of a running game, is that they justified moving us ahead of ND in part because of the gutsy 4th and 2 call to get the go ahead score against Auburn.
These people have no business judging anything to do with College Football’s post season.
I’m glad we moved ahead of ND. Point is we never should have been behind them! Of course the loss to FSU is bad. But the rest of the schedule counts too!
This committee is bad bad bad. CFB needs to revamp this process asap and get rid of these stupid, feckless morons.
I always felt like 12 was a good number if they would get rid of the automatic qualifiers. Finish top 12 & you are in - 13 and below, you’re not. Don’t have to worry about some 8-5 Champions from a G5 conference getting an automatic bid and bumping you out.As stupid as it was that they justified dropping us due to a lack of a running game, is that they justified moving us ahead of ND in part because of the gutsy 4th and 2 call to get the go ahead score against Auburn.

You get my vote for Post of the Year!I always felt like 12 was a good number if they would get rid of the automatic qualifiers. Finish top 12 & you are in - 13 and below, you’re not. Don’t have to worry about some 8-5 Champions from a G5 conference getting an automatic bid and bumping you out.
With 12 you don’t really need a committee, just go back to the old BCS formula and be done with it.
They moved us ahead of ND for two reasons and neither had anything to do with ND or Bama’s winning performances this past weekend. First, they caught a bunch of flack from people that really watch the games questioning how a Bama was behind ND when almost every metric the committee “says” they use had Bama significantly stronger than ND. Heck, I even heard a former ND player agree that, on paper, Alabama had a stronger resume. Second, they know they needed a buffer if a) BYU upsets Texas Tech or b) Alabama loses a close game to Georgia in the SECCG. While this committee is different from last year (supposedly) last year’s SMU situation of “not punishing a team for the extra data point of a loss in a conference championship game” has them painted into a corner, at least perception wise.As stupid as it was that they justified dropping us due to a lack of a running game, is that they justified moving us ahead of ND in part because of the gutsy 4th and 2 call to get the go ahead score against Auburn.
