Potential final ranking prognostication

I always felt like 12 was a good number if they would get rid of the automatic qualifiers. Finish top 12 & you are in - 13 and below, you’re not. Don’t have to worry about some 8-5 Champions from a G5 conference getting an automatic bid and bumping you out.

With 12 you don’t really need a committee, just go back to the old BCS formula and be done with it.

100%... Have human polls for "feelings" and computer polls for raw strength. If teams fuss just go ahead and do a 16 team playoff. Maybe have a 2nd sixteen team consolation playoff and get rid of all those crappy bowls or let them founder on their own. If you aren't in the top 32, no need for postseason. Plus or minus on the conference championship games.

Yep! I think we’re either 5 w/a W or 10 w/an L
in the SECCG…

That’s about where I am.

Win by any score and we’ll be about the 5th-6th Seed

Lose by a close margin and we’ll be about 10th

Get blown out and we are out.

We have to put up a fight this Sat at least and make it clear we belong win or lose.

The reason I personally like 12 is that it rewards the 4 best with a bye as long as those are not artificially manipulated.

Yup and do away with conference championship games. Its simply a greedy money grab. The regular season results should stand on its own.
FYI though the BCS formula has us at #10

I think if we win Saturday, then we get to 4. Indiana and Ohio St are getting byes, and deservedly so. Texas Tech will get a bye if they win, and I think we jump ahead of all the one loss at-large teams that aren't playing this weekend, including Oregon. I don't think the Big 10 will get three byes for a league that only gets three in. It does not sound crazy that the number 9 team would jump to 4 after beating the number 3 team in the SECCG, especially after they would have beaten them twice.

IMO, Alabama should be #3 with a win.

1 OSU
2 TT
3 Bama
4 IU

With a win Bama will move ahead of Oklahoma and UGA and maybe one of the one loss teams. Ohio State and Indiana will both be get byes, along with TT if they beat BYU by a substantial margin. Then one of Oregon, Ole Miss, or TAM will be the 4th team in the top four. Bama may jump one of the one loss teams, so potentially they could move to 6th or 7th. They get to host a playoff game in Tuscaloosa and are bracketed against the 2nd or 3rd place team in the playoff when they advance.

An idiot on 92.9 The Game here in Atlanta believes if Alabama loses, we should be out an sexat should be in. He claims no bias (he is lying), but said their schedule was "harder". FYI, it is Carl Dukes and he hates Alabama.

Their SOS is barely tougher.

I think they were 8th and ours 11th

They also just lost by 25 points to a team we beat at the same location…lol
