It seems like not disclosing that info could hurt playoff consideration. It would explain why his play declined the second half of the season. I don’t think it would have been viewed the same as losing your starter for the playoffs

Yeah I see it both ways. Obviously kept FSU out a few years ago. I do think there is a difference in playing injured with the chance to heal before the playoffs versus the starter being completely out. I think in this instance it would help explain some of the offenses drop off from early in the season
Two things can be true at once. The o line play is bad and will be no matter who is QB. Ty Simpson, regardless of the o line play, is playing poorly at QB.
We have no deep threat potential with Ty at QB, and really haven’t all year. Now Ty is struggling with short and intermediate routes when he does have time. He has become a liability. He was an asset for the majority of the year, but not now.
If it was up to me, which thank god it isn’t, I would use the next 11+ days to get Mack ready. We could beat Oklahoma with Simpson, but definitely not Indiana. Why not roll the dice with Mack against OU and then have him with a start under his belt against Indiana.
I can see next year this getting changed to where the G5 teams must be ranked at a certain level before they are considered.

I wonder what the odds would be for byu or notre dame. Probably not great, but better than 50k or 60k

No one will even watch this games. I don't care that they won their conferences. These conferences don't play the same game as the SEC and Big 10.
Inclusion for the sake of inclusion is a joke. These teams would be lucky to be .500 ball clubs in a power conference.
Notre Dame would destroy both these teams.
People being upset Bama made it in over Notre Dame should instead be upset that teams like Tulane and JMU make it in just because.

College Football National Champion was once decided by Sports Writers. Fans were upset their team wasn't picked.
Then it went the BCS where the top 2 teams played in a championship. Fans were upset their team wasn't in the championship game.
So it changed to a 4 team playoff. Fans were upset their team wasn't picked for the playoff.
Now it's been changed to a 12 team playoff. Fans are upset their team was left out of the top 12.
Fans are now calling for a 16 team playoff. Fans will still be upset when their team isn't picked for the 16.
Take note that March Madness went from 8 teams, to 16, to 32, to 64, and now to 68, and fans are still upset when the selection committee leaves their team out.

Basketball actually went to 65 for a short period and had the worst 2 teams play a play-in game. Then expanded to 68 to get more major schools in the tournament.
There was talk about expanding to 96 teams but that has been shelved for now. They will eventually and #97 will be upset.
Anyone’s gonna be upset if they’re the first team out. But if you’re the first team out behind two teams that you should beat by 30+ that’s where it gets tricky
I actually used to like the fact that G5 and P4 (P5 back then) were grouped together. It was unique, and something that no other sports league has ever done, and I felt like it was one of the things that made college football great. However, they also weren't begging for a seat at the table. Up until about a decade ago, they were perfectly happy with the extra revenue streams that come with being a member of the FBS, as well as the other benefits they get. For some reason, that's not enough for them anymore, and now they are demanding a seat at the table. Maybe it is time we separate them I really hate it, because it's gonna make college football even more unrecognizable, but I don't see any other way forward.
And football isn’t basketball where one guy can go off and beat you.
They are coming really close to slaying the goose that has laid their golden eggs. When they become so demanding that the P4 finally say ENOUGH, they will break away into their own division and with that likely comes a hard wall on who you can and can’t play. That is what Saban used to say would be a consequence of not being able to play the lower level games. These schools would lose a significant portion of their athletic department funding. I guess maybe set up a “pre-season” where you could play a couple of non division games, but if you are already playing 9 conference games and wanting to schedule of 3 between the P4 conferences then you are already playing 12.
