Like all of you I love the pre-game video that marches through our wonderful history. I do wonder if it is not due for an ungrade...just wondering if anyone on here knows if there will be some changes this year. Also, one thing that bothers me is the fact that I can never clearly hear what is being said on the video...anybody else have that problem?

The only way you will ever be able to hear what is said is if you can find it online or get everyone to shutup around you(never gonna happen during those vids). It will probably be updated with CNS added in if I had my guess.
Actually it is not from the sound of those around me at all...it is the lack of quality of the sound I have a problem with.

Which are you talking about? The video about 1/2 hour before gametime that displays all the clips and subtitles? or the one at kickoff that the elephant blasts through at the end?

The one 1/2 hour before kickoff is a bit longer and Coach Bryant says something along the lines of:
"The same things win that always won, we just have different excuses for losing"

and in the one at kickoff time he says something like:
"I hope the fans remember me as a winner, because I ain't never been nothing but a winner."

You can get .wmv versions of these videos at bamapride.com. The site is down right now but that's where I watch. You can search youtube for hours and find them too.

I wouldnt mind adding a couple of more recent plays, but other than that i think the video's are fine. Also a stadium with 92,000+ plus people and concrete doesn't make for good acoustics, and its an old recording.

Yeah...the recordings of Coach Bryant are 30+ years old. So...trying to put that over a loud speaker in an outdoor stadium is very difficult. If anyone saw the Nick Saban Show this past Sunday...I have no doubt in my mind that they will tack on what he said about being a Champion to the end of the pre-kickoff video. It gives me chills just thinking about it.

Ill never forget the first time I heard the intro with Coach Bryant, it was awesome and I enjoy seeing it each time that I am in the stands.

I like the video, I wish at the end they would add a little bit of new stuff more recent players and such. I also want a better elephant sound. I"m talking like a ....ed off sounding elephant.

Less Bear Bryant and more recent plays/players. We need to start slowly moving away from the Bear and the 12 Nat. Championships and on to the future of Alabama football.

Denny, I was thinking the same thing when I posted that;), but I would like to see us use some more updated graphics (even though there's not much to be proud of as of late)

Ok...remember that this video is all about our 12 National Championships...not great plays or great players. So...we don't have any clips or sound bytes after 1992 that can be part of this video aside from the current coach at the end. With that said...if you want changes to add recent stuff then you have to do away with the whole National Championship theme. I'm not so sure I even want to see it changed other than adding CNS to the end. Why change it? Because we haven't had success since 2000? We blaming that on the pre-kickoff video? I can see how my shirt I wore last year had an impact on the games...but not the video. C'mon folks. ;)

No, I'm not kidding. I guess I'm just one that sometimes gets sick of all the "glory" talk and "12 National Championship" talk.

I was born in 1981 and don't remember seeing much of Bear Bryant when I would come to Tuscaloosa as a kid. We last won a national championship 15 years ago. I love the tradition of Alabama, but I would like to see us start focusing more on the current state of Alabama and not something that happened before all the players, recruits, students and young alums were even born. But that's just my opinion

If anyone is in Tuscaloosa on Friday go to the Legacy on the strip around 11:30-12:00. What an amazing feeling it is to see those football videos, the jumbotron video and CT videos they play. They plaed it last Friday night and the whole bar stopped and just stared at the screens for a good 15 mins.

I get what you are saying. The fact is I was around during those glory years when Coach Bryant did something very special. But even I realize we need to move into the future and build a new dynasty. I love the tradition at Alabama as much as anyone on this board but the fact is we are now in the 21st century and while I will always cherish my memories of yesteryear I want to see us succeed and make new memories that our kids and grand kids can remember. It's like a big tapestry that is continuing to be made...the new along with the old. You can't forget the old because it is part of the tapestry but the new has a place too. I think we are beginning a new journey and it will be glorious as well.
