Utah State will roll into Death Valley for Homecoming on October 16th. Scott Rhymer continues his game-by-game preview of the 2004 season by taking a closer look at the Aggies, and what problems they could potentially bring to the table.
In this 11 part series I will break down and predict each Clemson football game for the 2004 season. Of course, much can and will change as fall practice commences and the season progresses. So by no means do I envision a scenario where I am perfect, but the hope is to give a realistic view of where Clemson, and the rest of the ACC, will fall in the upcoming season.

Their QB sounds pretty good. Doesn't look like he's gonna have much help though. This game will probably give us a good idea of what to expect from our D-line. If we don't dominate the LOS and get to their QB pretty good, we might be kinda hurting.

I think Utah State is going to be a scrappy team. I remember their coach from Montana, which did a pretty good job, and it seems he has them playing good "D" (up from #111 to #46 in one season) and (at first glance) a possession oriented offense (replacing their 1000 yd rusher of last year with a JUCO stud RB with 3700 yds in two seasons...click the link at the bottom after Clemson is predicted to win 37-6 :rolleye2: ). That sounds like a winning combination to me. I know this is a new season but man do those state and directional schools make me nervous...especially the season openers!! RTR!!!

That's a really good breakdown of Utah State and should bode well for the men in Crimson too! The heat should quickly take its toll on the Aggies and I expect we'll get to see our second teamers get a lot of experience by late in the second quarter and all of the second half of this contest!

I'm not saying that we will kill them, but I do believe we will have much more depth defensively and be able to score enough points to put the 2nd teamers in early and often.
