(AP) - Prince Harry, who provoked outrage by wearing a swastika armband to a private party, is considering invitations from Jewish groups to visit the Auschwitz death camp, a royal official said Friday. The invitations "will be given due consideration, but there are no plans at the moment," said a spokeswoman at the office of Harry's father, Prince Charles. The spokeswoman stressed that Harry would not attend ceremonies on Jan. 27 commemorating the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau complex, although the Simon Wiesenthal Foundation had urged him to do so.

I wonder if he'll wear his "costume".

"All these excuses boil down to one: that Prince Harry is a stupid young man, who meant no harm. That is what I would like very much to believe," Tom Utley wrote in The Daily Telegraph. "But if it is true, then we are not talking about an average level of stupidity. We are talking about stupidity on an absolutely monumental scale."

Understandable, in light if the fact he is the product of two world-class royal ninnies, Charles and Diana. Harry does appear set to take their ninny-ism to breathtaking new heights. What if Harry refuses to visit Auschwitz? Can Charles have him flogged??? Beheaded??? Credit cards burned at the stake??? Tune in for another episode of "As Their Highnesses Flip Out."

These guys need to get a life. Jokes may be insensitive, but they are meant to be funny, not to offend. People that dress up as Hitler, Napoloen or Genghis Khan are not trying to offend - they are having fun. Anyone offended by this is way too sensitive...

What a total insensitive thing for the little moron to do in view of the fact that his great-grandmother and great-grandfather, the Queen Mother Elizabeth and King George VI, bravely stood their ground and refused to leave London while the Germans were bombing them.

********************************

* From September 7, 1940 through May 11, 1941, the Germans blasted London nightly. These raids became known as the London Blitz. The Germans also bombed other cities. By the middle of 1941, Germany gave up it's attempts to conquer Britian by air raids, after dropping more than 190,000 tons of bombs. But it continued the raids into 1944. Historians consider the Battle of Britian one of the turning-points of the war, because the British showed that they could defeat the Luftwaffe.

If the little twerp doesn't know what his country (and his own relatives) lived through during WWII, then he is a pitiful excuse for a human being.

Oh yes, BTW, the info came from my trusty World Book Encyclopedia, for those who want to make fun. ( I won't mention the name).

My point is that the stunt at auburn and this kid's antics are in poor taste. There is no disputing that in my opinion, but both instances are blown way out of proportion by the PC pundits.

Uh...duh...I doubt if anyone alive today was around for Napoleon or Genghis Khan, but there are plenty of us who were around for WWII, especially the Brits, who lived through the German bombings. Funny? Maybe for those of you who are still "wet behind the ears" .

I really don't mean to argue, and I am far from "wet behind the ears" - but maybe that was meant for the Prince. I simply do not understand why people insist on taking offense when none is meant. Do you really think that he is totally insensitive to the feelings of his parents and grandparents? IMO, he is simply too young to understand how strong some people's memories might be about this subject. I doubt that he had bad intentions or that he is insensitive or that he is stupid. He is guilty of being young and having fun. In his mind, Hitler is as ancient history as Genghis Khan, and you can get Genghis Khan costumes in any rental outlet...

And I'm not arguing with you either, but it seems that the little "wet behind the ears" twerp should know better - the Prince, that is...

I suppose one's reaction varies proportionately to his distance from the event?

And you can still find a few widows and cripples from the Blitz in Old London Town. Very few 13th century casualties, though; the Great Khan got no closer to London than Budapest. Maybe Harry should have dressed as a Mongol.

But wisten is barking close on the trail. This is another manufactured story by another tabloid. I don't think anyone would have said anything if the tab hadn't run that picture with that particular headline. Editors knew it would abrade a lot of raw nerves, and score a lot of readership. So who's the villain , now?

This doesn't cancel anything I said about Harry, Charlie or Diana. They are, and were, ninnies.

maybe i'm wrong but i believe the auburn kids were dressed for halloween, whereas harry was dressed for a 'bad taste' party, which mitigates things a little. nevertheless, he's been in the public eye his entire life and should have seen this coming. as such, he gets what he gets on this one.

How is it "ancient history" when we have neo-nazis running around with their walls plastered with pictures of Hitler and hinge on his every word?
