How do you feel about things now? We are +13 over last year, have done respectably well in Hoover, and can expect a tournament berth. I was just over on the Ole Miss boards where they are ready to run Bianco out of town, a guy who has averaged 38 wins a year for 13 years!

I would still like to see us hire a proven and experienced hitting instructor, but I think that we have seen some progress this year.

I think it would be hard to fire or remove them after this year. Not saying that this year has been some dramatic success, but the fact there is such improvement from last year. And the future is looking brighter due to the fact that so many young kids are playing major roles, and our upper classmen are the support players and not the star players.

I differ from a lot of the people on this forum in regards to a proven hitting coach. Name 10 proven hitting coaches in college baseball right now. Bet you cant name many. Most here probably wouldnt be able to name 10 MLB hitting coaches. The most important part of a college staff is a recruiter, we may need a proven recruiter, but we dont need a proven hitting coach.

That being said about such hitting coach and recruiter. The way the bats have awoken to finish the year, how easy does he become to axe... and if they all land another freshman crop like they did this year, be hard to pull the plug.

I say all that again knowing all that has been said on this board. Simply saying that CMG sat in AD's office last year and was given some sort of ulimatium, I dont see how this year wouldn't have met that ultimatium unless the expectations were just outrageous.

I personally feel it will go as recruiting goes. You have to stock the cupboards like football does but it is much more difficult due to kids and the draft. I we have a flat class in the next couple classes we will be back at square one or at the worst, really close to it. All in all pitching and defense has kept this team alive, not the offense and I personally feel CAP is learning how to do it everyday. Great coaches usually aren't great at the beginning, they learn and apply that knowledge which makes them great over time! Just my .02 worth.
