I have 4 that really stand out in my mind...
1). When John Copeland told the media after beating the stuffing out of Miami in the '93 Sugar Bowl,"You can't win it (the championship) on paper, you've got to win it on the field"
2).When the 2002 Crimson Tide went to knoxville and whipped the viles 34-14 and Tyler Watts scored that last T.D. with a great big smile on his face.
3).The 2001 Crimson Tide that put a GREAT-BIG-OLE-WHUPPIN' on the "school down the road" by a final of 31-7 to shut the orange & blue up.
4).4-words...THE GOAL-LINE STAND.[/COLOR]
I also have one more that I forgot...The hiring of Mike Shula as the head football coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Man, this gives me chills jus thinking about it. :biggrin2:

'93 Sugar Bowl

Lane Bearden going out on the field and playing through what must of been tremendous pain - players like him are what Bama football is all about!

'99 in the Swamp, WOW that was a great game!!!! Shaun and the way he represented us, made me proud to be a Bama fan.

1) adopting a little man who will become one of ALABAMA's finest players.
2) everyday I wake up and realize I am not an Awburnt grad.
3) That even though this wasn't our best year we never quit.
4) Sitting in the swamp in 99 and watching the extra point go through the uprights. Looking at my cousin who was attending UF and saying " I think you just lost cuz, PAY UP!"

Here it is.

1. Watching people run back to their seats this year in the 4th quarter of the Miss State game because A.C. Carter ran on to the field and everyone was yelling DEUCE. That young man is what Alabama Football is all about and to see him get that chance and see the crowd react in that way made me proud to be a part of the greatest tradition in college football.

Lots of proud moments in my 45 years of being a Tide fan, but the biggest had to be our 1978 Sugar Bowl win over Woody Hayes and a fine Ohio State team. As a student at OSU during the early 70's I generally kept my Bama loyalties to myself, but I definitiely heard all the trash talk and speculation that Alabama didn't belong on the same field with the Buckeyes-much the same as the days leading up to the 1993 Sugar Bowl with Miami. Jeff Rutledge, Tony Nathan, Ozzie, Barry Krauss and Marty Lyons certainly proved otherwise. Most memorable following the game was Coach Bryant saying, "This in no wise diminishes the renown and legacy (sic) of Coach Hayes. Woody is a great coach and always has been-and I'm not bad." We still got politicked out of the 1977 NC (sigh) by the Irish (again). But we won it the next two years. RTR

Although I am not that seasoned I do have two distinct times when I was the proudest to be a tide fan.

My proudest moment was watching all of the announcers and so-called experts eat crow as Bama was absolutely kicking the living crap out of Miami in the 92 N.C. game.

The next proudest was this year in each of the games with our third string backfield in their, and the fact that they never quit and never made excuses. That is class. That is integrity. And that is what Pride is all about.
I was very proud of that 92 NC team. I felt especially vindicated when we won that game because all year long many of my friends (Bama students) complained about how horrible our offense was and how we really weren't that good. Each week I kept telling them that I had faith that year and felt that somehow, someway Stallings would find a way to win.

The offense wasn't flashy. But the team got the job done.

My other proudest moment happened in '84 or '85. I can't remember exactly what year, but it was the year Van Tiffen made the "kick" to beat Awburn. I was watching the game at home with an Auburn buddy (an Awburn student). It was near the end of the game and Bama was behind. We got the ball and bama came storming back....driving the ball down the field, getting closer and closer to paydirt.

I remember vividly my friend and I both were drawn up in knots as the final seconds were ticking away. He was lying on the floor screaming for the defense to "do something" and I was standing, cheering "Mighty Alabama" on, praying for that final dagger thrust that would shut those Awbies up for good.

Of course you know the story. With seconds left, the stadium explodes as Van Tiffen kicks a magnificient field goal to seal Auburn's fate. I jumped so high I stuck my hand in the ceiling fan! It didn't matter though because I felt even more elated as I stood cheering the Tide while my Awburn buddy hid his eyes down on the floor.

Funny thing though... though I cheered my team, I was particularly careful not to rub it in or taunt him, as he was a guest in my house. And he later told me that even so, the fact that I was cheering my team onward was making him angry. It was the closest he'd ever come to hitting me. It really shaped my opinion about those fans.

That says a lot. :(
