Oh I bet Butch is laughing so hard right now.

Derek Dooley:

3 years

15-21 (4-19)

Jeremy Pruitt:

3 years

15-18 (9-15)

Butch Jones

5 Years

34-27 (14-24)

1st 3 years = 21-17 (10-14)

If Jeremy Pruitt fails to beat either Vandy or aTm then he would have the same amount of wins as little dooley and 6 less than the guy he replaced through 3 years. Also keep in mind that Dooley’s two non conference losses were to Oregon when Chip Kelly was there.

Its harder to recruit to Tennessee when you aren't pulling the shenanigans Fulmer used to.

With that though, Pruitt recruits well, except where he needs it most, at QB. A decent QB changes his whole dynamic. If he recruited one though, is there development there?

Hes had an above average OL, outside of that I dont think his skill players have been very dynamic at all.

On paper, ut’s OL is LE-GIT. So that points to coaching, likely.

I think Pruitt is in over his head, said that when he took the job.

I think you are correct...the best evidence is the product on the field. UT has players...lots of good talent. They do not have a scheme on either side of the ball that allows them to maximize their talent and win football games. With the losses mounting the players find it harder and harder to pull from within themselves and perform in the consistent manner that wins games. We've all seen this movie before, even in Tuscaloosa pre-CNS. CJP will be on the sidelines next year...but it will not be in UTenn.

The first time I saw Guarantano play I told a UT friend of mine that Guarantano would be a helluva QB at Marshall or UConn, but would never make a dent in the SEC. He is a head case and not a very talented QB two attributes you do not want at QB. UT will finish 3-7 and Pruitt will have one more year, so he needs to up his game.

i really thought he should’ve taken the G5 route and then made a move to P5. This tenure may have made people forget his phone number like they did for Dooley when they are hiring HCs. Butch has been a top contender for several job searches last year and a few this year. A few here in Mobile think South is about to throw an insane offer to get him down here.

Seems like Butch is enjoying his time in Tuscaloosa.
