Re: Neal Burcham has another offer

Burcham loves Bama, and would likely jump on a Bama offer in a heartbeat.

I don't think Scott will get a D1 offer though.
Thanks for keeping us up to date on Burcham's season. I still have him listed as a Bama prospect. If Bama takes two QBs I expect he will be in the mix.

Re: Neal Burcham has another offer

You're welcome, Crimson Surfer..
Tonight against conference foe Huntsville, Burcham threw for over 200 yards in only 9 1/2 minutes of the first quarter, leading Greenbrier to a 27-0 start, then, Coach Randy Tribble pulled the plug, and Neal and the first team sat for the rest of the game. The Huntsville head coach was Coach Tribble's college roommate, so to say he went easy on his best old friend is an understatement.

Burcham hit my nephew, Scott Cavin, for TD passes over the top of 25 and 42 yards, and also threw another 40 yard TD over the top to the back of the end zone. Cavin caught all 6 passes thrown to him for 150 yards in receiving. Neal then ran for a TD on a designed QB run for 48 yards, dodging most of the entire defense along the way in zigzag fashion, to make it 27-0. Greenbrier coasted to a 53-14 win. Burcham was dialed in like a telephone operator. Burcham had 4 incompletions, and every single one of them hit the receivers dead in the hands. They were all over the top with nothing but the end zone between the receiver and the touchdown. To say the receivers were looking at the end zone instead of the looking in the ball is an understatement. Burcham had no interceptions.

You can believe that Burcham is everything Trent Dilfer said he was at the Elite 11 in Malibu. The young man is truly that one in a million of gifted arms.

Re: Bobby Petrino Is Lying to Potential Recruits

Neal Burcham, not too long ago, made the public statement that Bobby Petrino and staff personally told him they were going to offer two QB's before him, and if those two offers didn't work out, he was the next to be offered.

Well, the first two QB's offered indeed turned Arkansas down, but instead of offering Burcham as Petrino had told the young man was going to do, he offered a 3-star prepster from Illinois thirdly, not Burcham. Keep in mind, Burcham's stats have soared, not diminished.

So now, Petrino has began to erode his home recruiting base in much the same manner as Mark Richt did in Georgia, and we see where that has Richt sitting 3 years later. Only difference is, it took Richt 8 years to shoot himself in the foot, while it took Petrino just 3 1/2 years.

The laugher for the rest of the SEC is, the University of Arkansas administration has ignorantly leaped into an overhyped and overpriced long term contract with Petrino, with an unaffordable buyout for the next 5 years, after nothing more than a single decent but far from stellar 10-3 season, and that single season of decency was because of Ryan Mallett's arm, not Petrino's prowess, a non-existent prowess I might add. And Arkansas' fans were laughing at Ole Miss for giving Houston Nutt a long term contract? With all this hullabaloo, Petrino gets to laugh all the way to the bank.

Word is, Petrino became redfaced when Trent Dilfer made the statement of, "Any coach in the area that hasn't offered Burcham a scholarship is stupid." Obviously, Petrino was Trent Dilfer's prime target in that statement... So here go the Razorbacks again with another egotistical Houston Nutt "I'll show you who is boss" prototype... "No one is going to infer that I'm stupid, I'll prove that fact myself."

Well Arkansas fans, here's to another twenty years of not knowing the satisfaction of a conference championship, because with Petrino's lies already beginning to stack up, an SEC championship ain't happening. Evidently, the folks in Atlanta knew exactly what they were talking about when they called Petrino a liar and a coward.

No one is bigger than life. If you play with a hornet's nest, you get stung. Be honest, or be done.

I am still scratching my head about Arkansas not offering Neal Burcham. I expect Vandy will offer him sometime soon.

On Tuesday, the Greenbrier (Greenbrier, Ark.) senior quarterback committed to Southern Methodist, a program that's become a strong team again thanks in large part to coach June Jones. Burcham picked the Mustangs over Cincinnati, Arkansas State and Central Arkansas.

Yet for a while, there weren’t any offers for the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder despite having passed for a combined 6,290 yards and 65 touchdowns his sophomore and junior seasons. Finally, in June, Burcham picked up an offer from Central Arkansas.

But that was far from his biggest accomplishment over the summer. In July, he proved he belonged among the nation’s top quarterbacks by snagging co-MVP honors at the Elite 11 finals, the country’s premier high school quarterback competition. At Elite 11, Burcham earned plenty of praise from Elite 11 coach and ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer, who quarterbacked the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl title, and he also gained a ton of confidence.

Awesome school for Burcham to wind up at. Coach Jones definitely has SMU on the rise. I personally know their WR's coach Jeff Reinebold he's from up my way.. great guy. Good luck Neal!

Re: Bobby Petrino Is Lying to Potential Recruits

This guy (Swinesmeller) pimped the kid over on an Arkansas board and probably got himself banned.

Arkansas didn't offer for the same reason Bama didn't: The kid is not a major D-1 QB. Not a knock on the kid, just the truth.

His HS team runs the typical spread like many Arkansas HS teams where the defense is spread all over the field and the throws are typically 7-8 yards and turn in to 20-30 yards gains. Very few throws over 20-25 yards and require little accuracy or arm strength.

He camped at Petrino's camp twice and say or think what you will about him but Petrino knows QBs like Saban knows defense.

So what Doc Swine is a fan?. He's provided good recruiting info to discuss except for WR Ono Uno.

Re: Bobby Petrino Is Lying to Potential Recruits

I don't follow other teams nor would I care to. Doc has been good outside insight on this board on an Elite 11 QB. We try to just stay on message point here without personalities overriding subject matter.
Welcome to the board!

Thanks for the welcome. Didn't intend for this to be the thought of following another teams, just an insight on Neal's recruiting.

In Neal's defense he went to the elite 11 combine and tied with the recognized number one qb in the country, Jameis Winston. Your boy Wilson ran a spread too, didn't he?
