That's some cherry picking off his 1st truly bad game.

Holstein First 6 Games:

127 for 200 (63.5%) for 1,700 Yards and 15 TD's and 5 INT's and 266 Yards Rushing and 3 TD's

He threw for 3TD's 5 straight times before the Cal game and threw for over 300 Yards 4 times.

Jalen's First 6 games of 2023:

85 for 132 (64.4%) for 1,397 Yards and 11 TD's and 4 INT's and 139 Yards Rushing and 5 TD's

He threw for 3 TD's Twice and 300 Yards Once and had Two games with NEGATIVE rushing from sacks.

That's a pretty fair one to one comparison of their 1st real 6 games as a starting QB.

I've watched every Pitt game this year and that Kid is running a FULL Offense and has put the whole team on his back several times and carried them to wins in tight games.

He had a Bad game vs Cal....

Guess what.... Jalen had a bad 6th start vs Ark in 2023 and completed 47% of his passes It happens.

I think Holstein has proven he can play.... why he had to go to Pitt to do it... I don't know.

I guess if Ty transfers from not getting a chance we'll be wondering why he's flourishing elsewhere too.
According to PFF Holstein has 12 turnover worthy plays that's 4.7% of his attempts, Milroe has 5 2.3% of attempts.

Holstein has a time to throw of 2.96 to Milroe's 2.89.

Holstein probably will grow into a good maybe even very good QB. But you are giving him a ridiculous amount of grace that Milroe has never gotten. My point is Holstein is not a guy we would want starting at Alabama this year. He just isn't.

IF this is the real reason behind the Milroe-Simpson drama then DeBoer should just go ahead and throw caution to the wind and make the change sooner than later, even if it destroys the locker room and ruins the season.

Better to do this now than let it linger any longer.

Milroe just doesn't seem to be the answer at QB.

And IF DeBoer were to do this, he should also make a public announcement that he's the head coach, he's making the decisions, and anyone on the team or staff who disagrees is free to seek a roster spot or staff position elsewhere.

Set the tone now.
This is precisely how I feel. If you worry about losing the team, you also have to worry about younger players being indoctrinated into thinking in the way you don't want them to.

As much respect as I have for Saban, the locker room he left was not the 'Ferrari' people refer to it as. Alabama is a rebuild job due to what was allowed to fester (over the last year in particular).

Rip the bandaid off now.

I do think criticism and narrative building is over the top. But I do hope Ty is at least getting a higher % of reps with the 1s this week in practice than he has in the past.

Even if Milroe starts its clear we need to have a backup plan in the works if things continue in the direction they have been going the last 2 weeks.

I agree. At some point, he has to establish that he's in charge and it's going to hurt some feelings. It's starting to remind me of when the USSR collapsed and all of these conflicts that it had been holding down were unleashed and the region was in turmoil.

Giving more reps to Ty in practice could be telling Milroe if he don’t get it together a change will be made.

Many/Most players can probably make more NIL money with better QB play than they could through LANK. I guess idk how big that brand really is but I've certainly never spent any money on it.

I still believe most players want to win games, be famous (for being great) and make NFL money more than they want whatever amount they could possibly be getting from LANK.

By the way, concerning the alleged “Mutiny in Tampa” last year, I’ve seen it alluded to that “Simpson couldn’t beat out Buckner for the start against USF when Milroe was benched”.

This could be true, but take this into consideration- who was Alabama’s OC? Where had Buckner played and who had he played for? After a miserable spring in terms of QB play, why was Buckner brought in from Notre Dame?

IMO Buckner got the start over Simpson in that game primarily because Rees was more comfortable with him than Simpson, not because he was simply “better”.

And anyone under the illusion that Simpson will see the field outside an injury to Milroe or a complete blowout, today’s press conference pretty much cemented that ain’t happening.

As a leader you can either deal with the issues now or good luck trying to fix them later. In today's world of win now or else, CKD is in quite a conundrum. If he rips off the band aid all hell may break loose and he won't be around to see it get fixed and if he doesn't do anything about it he will inevitably seal his own fate because entitlement and prima donna's don't win championships. The good news for him, he will be paid handsomely regardless of how he goes about it. We as fans will be stuck with the collateral damage. Do with that what you will...

If only young college aged student-athletes thought like this. There is a reason coaches who run a program with an iron fist have been as successful as they have been over the last 50 years. Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face is as good of an analogy as I can come up with when it comes to the mindset of some of these "kids".

This response is totally hypothetical because it will never happen but...

What if CKD came out and said, "this is the situation and this is what I'm doing to fix it." Then he cleaned house and we went 3-9 the following year. Would the fans support him or call for his head?
If we went 3-9 next year, no matter who the QB was, people would be calling for his head.

I don't know anyone who would think that was anywhere near fixing the problem.

And are we talking about just the QB situation or him getting rid of or losing half the team and the coaches to transfers and such.

If that's what happened, then I'm not sure what anyone could say other than the fact that the entire program bottomed out in 24 months.

Saban was near the end of the road anyways, so I didn't expect him to change the way he handled things.

DeBoer is not even 50 years old yet, if he doesn't have the stones to do what needs to be done in this new era, then he needs to find another line of work.

We can't have a head coach who is afraid of players and people who write the players checks.

No one is saying Milroe is Tom Brady and I have said it may be time to make a change. But he WAS playing well this year. And sure you can discount every good play he's ever made if you want but he still had to make those plays.

Milroe has always had a weird effect on this fanbase where every positive he has is discounted and every negative is overexamined. It's really exhausting.
The reverse is also true. Milroe’s fans are every bit as bad as his detractors.

In the spring I felt there was a gap between Simpson and Jalen, Not a huge one but noticeable. I actually felt like Simpson had a better arm but just the pure experience factor gave Jalen an edge. I assume that is still the case now but at this point I believe Jalen has regressed instead of improved. The Mizzu passing defense is second only to Texas in the SEC so I'm not thinking it's going to be better and I'm thinking we are going to lose this game outright.

So once that happens, if it happens do we need to turn the page and start building to the future? Its really impossible to say since I'm not in practice and I don't see where Ty is. I don't really know if you can judge that with a black jersey on. Perhaps they need take it off and find out. I do know one thing. If I'm the coach I'm choosing who plays. If players aren't on board with that, one of us is going to have to leave.

Buchner looked like he was on the level of Spencer Pennington bad.

How on earth did he ever make it on the roster at ND or Alabama.

From what I saw, he looked like a middling FCS QB.

Maybe that's true and I just ignore it more. But I feel like I've been one of the loudest "pro Milroe" people on Tidefans and I've never considered myself that pro Milroe.
Milroe showed improvement this year, and then he regressed right back to where he was at his worst.

The safety grounding penalty against SC was (at least for me) when his reversion was completely apparent.
