Re: RB Leonard Fournette Updates (Page 14)

I will bet anyone anything that Fournette will be going to LSU........it's money in the bank.

if he didn't have to wait behind Yeldon........and possibly several others, it might be a different story.

How much did All Everything, D Henry, play this year?

Founette can and will set all the LSU freshman rushing records next year........don't listen to their canned response, these kids want to see themselves on espn highlights every Saturday the first year.

RTR!!!!!!!!!!
this is my thoughts as well....that way, if he picks LSU, I am not as disappointed

Not that I wouldn't love to have him and I have no inside information but we have seen this before. LF is to LSU what Marlon Humphrey is the Tide - LOCK.

Just my opinion, but Fournette is in a different solar system than DH.

Shade,

please don't take this as a negative response on my part, but when you make statements like this , I have to scratch my head. LF is good, perhaps the best back in a long time even the overused " once in a generation " type of player can be applied to him. But he hasn't play one single snap in D1 football let alone in the most physical conference in the country. OTOH, Henry not only broke a half century old record, the young man has played in the SEC already and you have seen with " your own eyes" what he can do. Not only that , he is slowly doing the right things in practice to possibly become #2 back next season . And he runs a legit 4.4 in full stride!! Maybe Fournette will become the stud that everybody has already bestowed upon him or maybe not. Who knows?? But to say Henry is not in the same solar system with LF is not only disrespectful but not valid at this point. Last but not the very least, Henry wears Crimson and that to me is enough to stand by him.

Who knows which one will be better but DH hasn't really done anything this year. Granted he hasn't been given much opportunity either. Hopefully we will see him a lot Thursday night.

I've heard a few tidbits that encourage me a little about LF. I think he's telling the truth when he says he hasn't made his mind up yet. The problem is, of course, the parents favoring LSU for the same obvious reasons as Collins' mom...

All I know is that we're in the best run, any college football program has made, in the modern era of college football & having perhaps the best HC that's ever coached the game(by the time he retires)..Is more than enough incentive to pull the toughest recruits..Out of any schools backyard..It's to the point that I'm no longer shocked who we land..I get shocked when we don't land any recruit we go after..LOL

I assume it has been talked about that Bo Scarborough tweeted out that LF said they would room together at BAma. Don't know if that is just player talk, but players will make their own mind up. I will be no less shocked if we get LF as if we lose Humphrey.
Chances are we get at least 1 or 2 commits this week. but there is always a chance we strike out on all of these top recruits. Kids either want to be on the best team or beat the best team. It just depends on their motivation.

Re: RB Leonard Fournette Updates (Page 14)

I have seen it too. We signed Landon Collins.
I think that's a good illustration as to why it's so hard to pull an outstanding kid when the state school has a strong program, like LSU is. That one got played out (and is still is) in public. The parents, if the kid stays in state, get all kinds of bragging rights and become VIPs for the time that their kid is in school there. That's the reason LC's mom is still publicly pouting and says she wishes he were in purple and gold. It takes a really strong kid to stand up to that kind of pressure...

I agree it is tough and it does depend on how the kid and family can handle it. He would also be in the same class with Cam Robinson who is the top rated tackle and top 10 recruit nationally which would deflect it somewhat (along with Landon). If he were to choose us, at the end of the 3-4 years he most likely will be a millionaire and most fans have moved on to hating somebody else.

Re: RB Leonard Fournette Updates (Page 14)

Don't have any insider information on this, but I've been getting this strong feeling that this is a lot like Landon Collins situation. Fourette wants to go to Bama, but parents (most likely his mom) want him to stay home in LSU. If I were Fourette, I will see LSU as a great fit but will have so much pressure to live up to the hype, especially since these LSU people expect him to bring them back to the promised land. Also, he will definitely get more wear and tear on his knees with the load at LSU. That won't happen with Bama thanks to a running back rotation and that certainly will benefit him in terms of extending his NFL career for the long run. Plus, Bama is Running Back Univ. in these days, and have a chance to compete for SEC/National Championship every year in the Capstone. If Fournette wants to get to the next level with some of the best coaching in CFB and be top contenders for national championships year in and year out, it's Bama. Simple as that and I'm just glad I'm not in his shoes to make the decision :biggrin2:

Before Robinson committed I read a question from another site that was simply this: Which one would you rather see in Crimson? Robinson, or Fournette?? My answer was Robinson, because I feel that a great tackle is invaluable. And, we do have DH on board, which I feel is going to be a great running back. But, I also thought if we get one of them, then it would be incredible. I am having this strange feeling that we might pull both of them. I would love to see Fournette, and Henry both running off of Robinsons lead block . Talk about a one-two punch. The future is bright in Crimson

That's what I was saying in the thread about Landon Collin's ordeal the weeks leading up to the LSU BAMA game. It takes a special breed to deal with the things outside the lines. We fans tend to forget, these are 18 year old (man)children picking THEIR colleges. Wherever LF winds up, I'll be watching and rooting for him. Except for when he plays against us, that's when I'd like Ragland and Foster to mop his clock

Exactly..With or without Fournette..We will have as many quality RB' s on our roster, as any team in the country next year, and those are who we have returning next year..Yeldon(if he comes back), Drake, Henry, Tennpenny, Tyren Jones..And the recruits we bring in this recruiting class will be icing on the proverbial cake..

Are you talking about 2015? as 2014 Yeldon will only be a true Junior and will not be leaving early this year for the NFL.

But yes there are a load of good RBs to add a minimum of Bo to that list for 2014 and several good ones to come in for 2015. But you never know with attrition and injury luck.....LF would be a nice pick up but will not break this class

Re: RB Leonard Fournette Updates (Page 14)

I really liked his last interview, when he was commenting on his meeting with CNS. He said that Saban was "way cooler" than he expected and that the best players will play. He then said that he could come in, work hard and start. I'm sure the LSU recruiters are pointing out DH's lack of PT. I'd like to see DH get more PT vs. OK. I'm still afraid that we have too many quality RBs and we'll see some transfers. Anyway, I think we have an outside chance with LF. For DH to move up to #2, his blocking must have really picked up. I watched a couple of highlight reels of DH in HS, and, of course, he only blocked on passing downs. Other than that, he had the ball every down. When I saw his blocking I remember thinking that he really had some work to do there. His technique wasn't very good and looked sort of casual. CNS has said before that the hardest thing to teach young outstanding RB is blocking, because they just haven't had to do much of it in HS...

Exactly Earl.

Remember back to Shaun Alexander. The joke was the only one that could hold Alexander under 200 yards in a game was Gene Stallings. Stallings, very much like Saban, was a stickler for fundamentals. Shaun's pass blocking skills were lacking considerably coming out of high school in Kentucky. In high school, very much like Henry, Shaun was in to "tote the rock".

LF doesn't seem like a kid that is afraid of competition or hard work. An "earmark" of a Saban pitch is "best players are going to play". I also think Landon Collins' decision and the positive experience he has in Tuscaloosa since making the decision to leave the state could help swing LF in our favor.
