This was Paula's main meal yesterday on Food Network. I've never cooked short ribs in the oven before, but this recipe looked delicous and is a good ole "stick to your ribs" (no pun intended);) type of meal. By the time it came out of the oven, the meat was so tender, it pulled away from the bone with a fork.

I like yellow rice, but bet it'd be good served over noodles too!

That's another thing I wondered -- best with beef ribs? Think I'll try that one with noodles. Noticed at the end -- she took the remaining broth and ladled it over the ribs and rice.

This is a great tasting Beef Short Ribs recipe.

8 lbs. beef short ribs
2 large onions, coarsely chopped
21/4 cups tomato sauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup finely chopped jalapeno peppers
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
4 large cloves garlic, minced
3 tblsp. chopped green pepper
1 tblsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. ground red pepper
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
2 cups beer

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Place ribs in a large roasting pan.
Place onion around ribs.
Combine tomato sauce and next 9 ingredients in a large sauce pan, stir well.
Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer uncovered 10 minutes.
Stir in beer and pour over ribs.
Cover and bake for 2/12 hours.

My bride of many years and I were in Savannah last week and dined at Paula's restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife ate from the buffet and I had a scrumptuous crabcake accompanied by blackbeans and salsa over rice. And the dessert tray was a real treat.

While there I was wearing one of the Bama caps that my daughter (class of '95) gave me. And I received about ten "Roll Tide" chants as we strolled through the downtown area.

I'd love to try it -- I understand she serves a buffet like no other!
